Here is bigpipe 9:30pm (i reckon it falls in peak)

I know I don't need it, but if I can have it, then why the hell not :)

Funny story (or at least I thought it was funny) - some random guy knocks on my door last week from My Republic, trying to sell broadband in the area, spins me the usual sale story without allowing me to say a word, eventually I managed to get a sentence in and say to him, sorry, I'm already on a gigabit plan with 2D, and his reaction was "No sir, gigabit is only available in Dunedin called gigatown, wellington is still years away from gigabit, and so is other cities" and after a 5 minute argument I polity showed him that not only does my republic sell gigabit, but here are the other ISP's too and they have been pushing it for nearly a month.

They should update those sales books I think.

Yup. Waiting on an EdgeRouterLite to arrive. But the 7930 shouldn't be doing this to international anyway.

That's exactly what an under specced router does, the speed drops are much more pronounced with international locations. It's to do with how TCP handles packet loss over high latency links
