When you read the tweet it says there is 4G in the Dairy Flat area, that's correct is it not? The area has some 4G, just not necessarily that site and that specific part of the area 😁

The coverage map is a different kettle of fish.

@SaltyNZ back on page1 of this thread posted  23-Oct-2018 is the actual address of the site

I am not sure how the RAN team could be confused about this

Well, *I* certainly didn't go back to the beginning of the thread in 2018. :-)

2degrees have the most over-stated coverage map of all providers - you need to take a rock of salt when looking at them. According to their map, both Turoa and Whakapapa ski fields have full 4G coverage even though Voda's towers aren't 4G enabled (Voda's coverage map also says there's no coverage).

Correct I can't argue with that! Part of Dairy Flat has some 4G coverage but not the part that is reflected on the map that is meant to have 4G and this area is flat

I think you'll find you're incorrect here.

Last year I think Whakapapa got 4G on Vodafone and 2degrees are doing RAN sharing to those sites (4G also).

Yeah I kind of have to agree.

The few months I was living in Kirwee just off west coast road and apparently in a direct line of sight to this tower in particular ( (CAN-062-027-A)[VKIR]_S_KIRWEE for the curious) I could not get 4G until I was literally on Courtenay Road, outside or not on the property where me and my fiancée was. (this was on a iPhone XR at this stage last year)

Vodafone and spark are a completely different story.

I do find 2degrees to be extremely lacking in the 4G performance and range. Even in my apartment where I live currently in Chch. It just sucks on 2d but is great on Vodafone or Spark.

I get that there are hundreds of factors and reasons why but when a 2degrees mobile can't get 4G in an area its supposed to be able to get 4G and other competitors can. It leaves a very sour taste.

I've been with 2d since they came to whangarei and made the switch to kogan(vf) before the end of last year and quite frankly other competitors are night and day difference.

That’s not true. Voda don’t have 4G at either ski field - this is backed up by gis.geek and also Voda’s own coverage map. What’s more, the 2Degrees map has been like this for the last 3 years. Also, 2degrees are currently ownly RAN sharing on Turoa (don’t know how they do this with 4G when Voda doesn’t even have it) so how do you explain Whakapap having 4G when they don’t have any sites?

Whakapapa village is a RAN share site for sure, and Turoa & Tukino are as well I think, and yes they will have LTE (EDIT: if the Vodafone site had it otherwise). There are a bunch of other RAN share sites around the Ruapehu district, on the desert road for example.

Whakapapa village went on air as RAN share on the 20th of January. Sites have been coming online since August but quite a few in December-February.

OK, back to the original topic, now that we're talking about the right site, the RAN team advise that no this site does not currently have LTE due to some external circumstances outside our control, and we are unable to give a date when this might be rectified.

@SaltyNZ Fantastic thanks for the update pity the coverage map does not reflect zero 4G coverage in and around this area

Pass on my thanks to the RAN team as well

I would like to point out this is 100% not a 2degrees fault why it does not have 4G added

Thanks once again to the 2degrees team!

Slightly of topic somehow i think their map has been falsified slightly to make their network look more mature than it really is. Someone might be able to lighten on this but in my experience from a few years ago and recently they have improved especially filling those blank spots around major roads and towns.

Kind of baffles me there is no 4G coverage there yet i imagine its on their to-do list but who knows

@CNZ I know the reason why 4G is not on the Dairy Flat site and the issue is not 2degrees

2d would of had 4G on the site about 2 years back if they could of
