been with slingshot for the past 6 months or so have been getting constant 250 - 280 kbs download speeds

the past 2 to 3 weeks speeds have looked like this

currently have dynalink modem plugged directly into phone jack through extension cable (which is how i had it when i got the higher speeds) plus other phone jacks filterd , tried shorter cable ,tried isolation tests ,pings ,tracerts, tried using filter between modem and phone jack.

tried two diff modems plus different computer, tried clean install to elimate possibility of virus or spyware etc.tried diff ethernet cables. but nothing seems to help. i was told by slingshot after countless calls that after discussing with telecom my line was only capable  of a 1.5meg connection and that the speed i was getting was the fastest i could get, and if i had got any speeds higher then that it was due to luck. i explained to the operator that for the past 6 months i have had constant 250 - 280 kbps download speeds during busy hours and off peek hours  and the speed issue had only been happening for the past 2 weeks .i was asked to follow more test yada yada yada.

just wana know if anyone has any useful info for me thanks

heres info out of my modem

Two weeks, huh?

That's around the time we all started getting rubbish speeds. Do your downloads start fast, but then drop (quite quickly) to low speeds?

Line attenuation of 63.5 dB is very high, and so those speeds are about what you can expect. See if you can find out how far away from the exchange you are. If you are 5-6Km, then there is not much that can be done.

Often your speed can drop on these fringe areas if you get a bunch more people signing up around you. This can explain the drop off. If you don't have a master splitter installed, get this done too.

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend from $150 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?

Your modem stats show CRC errors meaning a broken line filter somewhere in your house or something not plugged into the line filter...i.e sky or phone....

Call the help desk and log ya fault, they will get you to do some test's and off to send out a tech to check your line.

Slingshot have also been shaping more of there network recently as they work on balancing their load.

Torrent's are are getting the mean shaping, so much, that if I have a torrent program open it's slows my connection to dialup speeds
and I still have tons of cap left.

And the two tips above are great also.  Try talking out that linefilter.

I have had your line checked out by telecom again, and they have made another change. I am pleased to announce that the line rate has doubled to where it should be, and to where it used to be. the rate is now kb/s 2952.0 166.0

thanks for all the replys
