@SaltyNZ I'm not looking for anything official but are you able to echo @michaelmurfy comments above i.e. this issue does not appear with the iPhone 12?

I've worked in tech long enough to know incompatibilities happen and am not looking play the blame game. I just want my phone to work reliably when I leave wifi; at this point its either upgrade to a 12 on 2Degrees, or change network and keep my current handset. Thanks in advance.

I honestly couldn't say, sorry. I work in core network design, not handsets. FWIW I have an iPhone XS and haven't had these problems with it myself.

I’ve been noticing picking up mobile data when I leave the house has been less of an issue for me lately. @saltynz - do you know if they managed to get to the bottom of this issue? Would be curious to hear any details you can share if they have.

At the moment I cannot really comment because I am not the official spokesperson and we do not want to fall afoul of rules around what you can and cannot say when there's an IPO process going on. I believe I can get away with saying that generally there have been a lot of new sites and upgrades to existing sites between December and now so possibly that has helped.

I (OP) can also confirm I am having a much improved experience, and I have not upgraded my phone. I usually have 4G as expected when I leave wifi - which means my phone is usable :-)

Yeah this is not a coverage issue. I’ve always had good 4g coverage at home on 2D and it was definitely no data until I turned airplane mode on and off.

I’m on Skinny and having same problem. Connected to mobile data but no data working.

I thought it was 5G causing it, but since have also had phone connected to wifi at home and also had no internet, until cycled wifi off and on.

Also had time when phone was connected to wifi (showed as connected in settings),but was using 4G data.

At the moment I’m experimenting with turning wifi off when using mobile data, and vice versa, so far seems to be more reliable.

Starting to look like an Apple bug to me.

I have iPhone12 pro max, a fellow work mate also lost his mobile connection at work, I told him to cycle airplane mode, and he got it back iPhone 11. He is on Skinny. Don’t know if it has happened to him more then once.

Hey rugrat. Again this is a separate issue to what this thread is addressing. This thread is specific to mobile data issues on 2D on iPhone 11 models.

You may want to start a new thread on that one, but first I would try ensuring you’re running the latest iOS and resetting your network settings?

Hey I realise that but the symptoms are exactly the same, so may be related and could be effecting more then iPhone 11 models. Just said it so people are aware. And same symptoms happening on other networks.

Your symptoms are not exactly the same and are actually very different to the very specific issues identified and acknowledged in this thread.

You may want to look into iOS "Wifi Assist". But as suggested, a separate thread would be the way to go to discuss your issues further.

iOS 14.7 came out Wednesday. Downloaded Thursday night. Have left and returned home multiple times with both wifi and mobile data on. No lost mobile connection so far, fingers crossed.
