Mehrts:
I usually don't care much for speed test results, however when Linetest is specifically mentioned on Orcon's website to test the speed of your connection, it automatically chooses ONLY the Vocus servers in AK or CH.
....
Exactly my thoughts. From the info in this thread and mine, it's proven that the server isn't necessarily the issue as:
But there's something odd going on with routes/priorotisation:
Linespeed.nz is the metric that the ISP advises to be used so it's in their interest for the results to be accurate.

michaelmurfy: Can you please create an Ubuntu Linux flash drive and boot into Linux to test?
This sounds like is the same issue that I know a fair few people are having with recent Windows 10 builds.
Edit: after reading more of the thread what router are you actually using right now? This just indeed sound like your router just can’t route Gigabit speeds.
i have tried Huawei HG659b and ASUS tuf ax 3000, both are giving me similar speed
The ASUS doesn't work well with Gigabit internet. All testing should be done through the Huawei which can route Gigabit fine.
Please also try booting into Linux w/ the Huawei connected via Ethernet. Take the Asus fully out for now.

have you tried using the speedtest app?
have you tried running a speedtest in a bootable linux environment?
is your computer even capable of gigabit speeds?
I suspect something changed about the time we went into lock down and performance never returned.. Below is a graph of my 900/500 plan with Orcon.

Dochart: I wonder how the routing works with Vocus customers not in Auckland and Christchurch. If I can get gigabit speeds with other ISP’s speed test servers then I should be able to get those gigabit speeds on Vocus speed test servers.
What is the bottleneck that is causing these issues. Why are Vocus customers not in Auckland and Christchurch being affected?

Hi i just joined Orcon, i live in gisborne an can get 950 300 to Auckland vocus server but my problem is the ping, its around 17ms on vocus an 26 to 40ms when speedtest to other Auckland servers, Feels like its routing frim gisborne to Christchurch to Auckland, Never had that higher latency with 2degrees, was always 11ms to most Auckland servers?

RazorEDGE: Yes theres definitely somthing wrong with the routing, im a gamer an was getting a consistent 34ms ping to Sydney servers an 11ms to Auckland servers with 2degrees for the last 5 years, i just switched to Orcon 2 weeks ago an found there routing looks to be bad from my end after doing tracerts, 26ms to trademe site, talking to tech team feels like they dont know anything. Ookla shows my location as Wellington an my best speedtest is to palmerston 10ms 700-950mb dwn 300up, linetest shows my closest server as Christchurch thats twice the distance to Auckland, Thinking i made a mistake leaving 2degrees now
