I saw an ad from 2degrees this morning on Facebook which was basically talking up new/expanded 4G coverage and a link where if you enter an eligible address they will give you a free month of their $55 plan (10 gig data) as a "test drive"

Can I read from this that the MoRAN upgrade is complete or not far from complete? Looking at the coverage map there are not many spots without 4G coverage now

MoRAN deployment is still going full speed ahead and will take till about April 2021

My phone still Roams to Vodafone 3G through the Bombay Hills, so guess there is still a gap on coverage there aswell

My understanding is they have completed their MoRAN deployment for that area. Fingers crossed when they turn off roaming it'll fall back to a native 2degrees signal (albeit maybe weaker, hence it's currently connecting to roaming) whether provided through their own site or MoRAN.

I have had it confirmed that 2degrees have turned off national roaming and it looks like no one noticed

National roaming is still active in certain parts of the country but you're less likely (close to extremely unlikely) to connect due to MoRAN project being 99% complete. Once complete they'll switch it off in the remaining region(s).

@c0ld Odd I had it confirmed that national roaming was now switched off

I'm headed to a location that national roaming is crucial to coverage in a few hours... Will have to see.

Appears 2d has deployed 3g on Waiatarua transmission tower.

5g dcnr showing up on U900.

L700 also deployed but with less power which is a bit of a shame really.

Propergation of U900 is noticeably less than Vodafone have always had there so I'd suspect lower on the pole, haven't checked out the actual licences to compare.

Also indeed am now unable to force across to vfnz.

Been told by source there is at least one region in each of the North and South island still allowing national roaming but they can't expand any further as to where. They'll be shut down before end of year.

Doesn't MoRAN share the antennas? Or could this be a non MoRAN site addition?

Must not be a MoRAN site and they use own hardware

Strange the site code is licenced as VWTH. In a previous post I saw it mentioned MoRAN sites began with V although understand it may not be a hard rule.
