I would have assumed it to be less hassle for the telco to give out the deal to off-contract clients rather than have to deal with a reconnection.

Lock you in for 12 months, then when that ends you're back paying $106 per month and too spoilt with that speed to want to go back down to 100/20

Most people wont notice the difference speed wise.

@Mahon That is what I thought and I have to say I was incorrect, I could now not go back to 100/20

2degrees use CGNAT so keep this in mind...

https://help.2degreesmobile.co.nz/app/answers/detail/a_id/402/~/changes-to-ip-addresses-%28cgnat%29

Any service or outside connection that is designed to reach you via your device’s public IP address to communicate with your modem won’t work. You may also notice an impact in the below.

  • Multiplayer video games where you’re hosting a session/server
  • Website hosting
  • Services or devices that rely on port forwarding
  • Torrents will only be able to establish outbound connections
  • Internet-enabled devices that are reached by IP address (e.g. IP cameras/security cameras)
  • Remote access to home network storage, backups and remote desktop service
  • Services that rely on Dynamic DNS (DDNS)
  • VPN servers

But, you can buy a static IP for $10/month.  $85 month is still a great price for those wanting static IP's. The ISP industry runs on such fine margins, I wonder if it is sustainable at such pricing.

We also provide all customers with an IPv6 address which allows all these services to work if they support IPv6

Any posts are personal comments and not that of my employer

@morganbrowne - please do let us know once you’ve heard back re whether free Prime is included for those of us who have had it as part of a previous contract.

If it’s not included, then this sure does need to be clearly specified, and not buried in the T&Cs. I’d also like to know either way before I make the call to request the deal, just in case it’s another thing CSRs aren’t consistent over!

Many thanks.

Sigh - So rang the call centre before to ask if they can move me to this new deal since I am off contract - have been off contract for a couple of years now.
They told me no. Apparently the $75/month offer is only for new customers.

I currently pay $105 Unlimited Ulimate but this does include a static ip and mobile discount.

Offer they can give me - is $5 cheaper than what I currently pay for now which is hardly worth it.

Referenced some of the comms on here and call centre said it would be best to contact @morganbrowne is that case. Will PM you @morganbrowne.

They called me back.
Got the deal but - they removed the free static ip I had, and so I need to pay for that now. Still saving 15 a month, so worth it so far.

All done in 2 minutes and super painless.  Really good reminder of why 2 Degrees is a great ISP.

I forgot to ask them but does anyone know a rough estimate of when i would see the speed's change over?  Would it be like a few business days, or just when my billing date ticks over?

Interestingly, the ad on the paper today (according to a photo I was sent) clearly says this offer is not available to existing customers.

So many contradictions...

Really?

I would have thought that’s separate since you are an existing account pre CGNAT

Why can't all CSR's say the same thing

I thought about this plan, but decided to stick with my Gigatown plan with phone. While this new plan would save me $ for 12 months, it would then start to cost me more after that time.
