I've been a 2degrees Fibre customer 2.5 years now. Because of the price increase I have changed ISP... I've had no issues with their service. I'm sorry to leave, but price is the biggest factor for me.

Who have you changed to and what was the price difference?

@540trickzter This was a wholesale price increase so expect all other ISPs to pass this on soon
Yep, I got something from Spark saying my price will be going up by $1 a month from November.
Yep, the wholesale price from Chorus up by $1, price increase by 2degrees $4
Gap between Spark and 2degrees on lower plans closing.
I'm happy on Enable with 2degrees on 200/100 speed, which Spark doesn't offer. The ultimate unlimited is cheaper first year , but I'm hoping plan I'm on lasts longer then another year and it's still cheaper then max plan once promotion finish's.
" would delay a wholesale price increase from $46 to $47 per month until October 1 (a decision it confirmed overnight, triggering retailers' latest bite-back)."

Edit: Couldn't find Enable price increase ref, assuming they'll be about same.

If you do decide you wish to leave us as a result of this price increase, you’re able to do so without incurring early exit fees for 30 days before the increase is introduced, even if you’re still in a contract. You can’t ask for fairer than that, right? But if your modem is a free rental modem it must be returned, or charges may apply.
No offence but if you are going to song and dance about how great you're to consumers for providing the option, allow me to introduce everyone to the truth: you're just complying with the Fair Trading Act's prohibitions against unfair contract terms. The ComCom has published a guideline on what it sees as likely to be unfair contract terms. At paragraph 79 of the guide, the ComCom cites the following as an example of an unfair contract term:
Telco X supplies high-speed residential broadband. Its standard form contract states that consumers must agree to receive its service for a minimum term of 12 months.
Telco X has included a term in its contract that enables it to change the price it charges, before the expiry of the minimum 12 month term. The customer has no right of early termination if this happens.
This term is likely to be unfair if it allows Telco X to unilaterally change the price of the service provided, and the customer has no ability to resist any increase or to exit the contract without penalty.
If Telco X had included a term that allowed customers to cancel the contract without penalty where the price was changed, the potential for unfairness would be greatly reduced.
You complied with the law, which is the obligation of everybody. Nothing more; nothing less. Nothing great/wonderful about it. I am a qualified lawyer.

I signed up with Orcon via glimp promotion for $64.95 per month on a 12 month term 200/100.
I was on 2degrees 200/100 enable network for $85 p/m. But with this increase to $89 p/m from next month.
Before signing up with the Orcon deal, I did contact 2degrees to see if they were able to match the Orcon deal or give me a credit to balance out the difference over the 12 months. But they weren't able to. The best they could offer was $79 p/m 12 month term. So I decided to pull the trigger on the Orcon deal.

There was a wholesale price increase last year and 2d froze pricing instead of increasing.
edit: added link for citation 🙂
They say he carved that spoon himself.. From a bigger spoon..
Any comment made here is my own and should not be taken as that of my employer. You've seen one of these statements before.

Fair enough.. Article only mentions Vodafone went up $3, no mention of Spark price change.
If I look at Fibre unplan 100 on Spark it is $89 going to $90 on October 16, so just $1 more expensive then 2degrees. Then most of the time I have Netflix so if I buy Netflix through Spark it’s then cheaper then having Netflix through 2 degrees.
Think before having Netflix through Spark was around a $3 saving, now it’s rounding after increase $106 vs $99 a $7 difference.
If I didn’t have my current discounts and the Enable package I’d probably switch back, plus have a look at other providers offers.
They are making less out of the people on the ultimate one this year, as it’s wholesale price would be higher then Fibre 100, and I wonder what people on that one do when Their year is up and price without mobile plan goes from $85 to $106. With fibre 100 being $89.
It’s a pity that Amazon Prime was only a 1 year offer.
