If customers wanted endless why not just go full steam ahead and just make 1 plan endless with no data cap or soft cap.

Then it would be truly endless and not this endless till you hit an arbitrary limit.

Shake up the market like you used to.

As an ex customer I would highly consider coming back if there was 1 endless plan with truly unlimited data at a fixed price with the option to share/tack on other devices into 1 bill and add an incentive to do this. There's more value to customers then these new plans. Go all the way. Seriously.

I suspect 2degrees would like to make some money on their products and services. What price would you pay for a fully unlimited plan with no data caps or throttling?

Obviously these exist in fixed wireless broadband but that's a very different proposition.

$70 + 30 for an extra connection.

Obviously you can apply fair use and it wouldn't be replacing fixed wireless options(like spark's 5g metro or unplan metro etc etc or vodafone's wireless broadband) so you can make this obvious. Maybe we can also put in an incentive to bundle this + actual residential connections(oh hey everyone does this!)

Whilst I understand that 2degrees wants to make money that's what a business does but this is what irks me so much. You've put a lot of money into your network now either show it off completely and show some competition or don't say stuff like this.

I don't see 2degrees competitive anymore vs anyone else. Lot's of double speak here and it's extremely disappointing from a company that really did shake up the mobile space for years it's all gone stale and boring.

Hi team

Just letting you know that I have escalated your concerns and passed this thread onto the team that looks after these plans to read. Thanks for all of your feedback and suggestions.

On another note, we are heavily enforcing that our team make customers switching to the new plans very aware that carryover data will be gone once they move. If this was not communicated to you, we want to know about it and look into it further. Please feel free to send me a DM at any time if this has happened to you and I will escalate it further.

At the end of the day, these new plans are based off from what customers told us that they wanted - which was endless, and they wanted more value than the old plans. We've always prided ourselves on creating products and plans based on majority feedback from our customers and this is a proof point of us meeting requests for these types of plans.

Again, feel free to get in touch if you have a specific issue I can help with - really keen to get you sorted, if so :)

Cheers,

I think the comment should have said our shareholders wanted endless data plans to increase the ARPU. Did anyone get surveyed asking about the endless data?

I agree 2degress has become like the other two telcos. Now we will get stagnation with no innovation of new plans for the foreseeable future!

@morganbrowne I wonder if this market research advised - Oh we are taking away 12 month carryover plan/s and we will also take away unused full speed data and have zero carryover like the other carriers

Market research can be BS if the people doing the research do not tell the full story!

Hi People we are also taking away shared data!! They would be like WTH that is nuts!!

This.

Was the question asked like: "would you like 2degrees to offer an unlimited data plan at full speed till you reach your soft cap"  <-- This i would tick yes too

When it should have been asked like this: "would you like 2degrees to offer an unlimited data plan at full speed till you reach your soft cap, this means no data roll over or sharing data with other devices" <-- This I would tick no too.

If you only ask the positive side of a question you tend to only get the positive side of the feedback.

@michaelmurfy - Did 2D ever sort out your complaint and move you back to the 25GB plan?

Afraid not - I've escalated this with the TDR now as the reasoning they've given is total nonsense. I won't be posting until the final decision from the TDR is made however not remaining hopeful.

Oh, that is a shame, the fact it's now with the TDR would have eroded any goodwill you may have had towards 2D.

Hopefully, you get some outcome in your favor. 2D have really shot themselves in the foot by mucking you around. As a number of GZ members do value your insights and recommendations on many things.

just re-reading your comments; you also were trying to help out others who lost their jobs due to COVID. That is very kind.

are there any other comparable plans with other providers you could take on to continue to help them out?

Good move.  While I made the call to move to Vodafone, before this happened 2D also cancelled the land line on mobile - despite telling me this had not happened... wasn't worth my breath to explain to them, that when you dial it, you get the 2D voice saying we didn't recognize the number you dialed, please check it and try again.

tbh, im glad to be rid of them.

@Delorean: The 2 Degrees business plans seem to be the closest with carry over data and upto 5 free day sharers. The only other problem could be that the sharers *might* be data only and the connections would almost certainly be under your account.

https://www.2degrees.nz/business/mobile-plans/business-choice

@Glazza: Before I ported my mobile out, I ported my landline on mobile to hero. $10 a month gives you a few hours of fixed to mobile diversions and no longer tied to the mobile account (and cheaper than the $20 a month 2D charged).

cokemaster: Vodafone just offered me $15 per sharer plus standard rrp for the 2nd lead plan for my 2D connections.

Sorry - 2D, the price difference and voice quality difference was a bit too much.

Sooo; have you had a bill from them yet?

I just got my first bill since moving to Vodafone - the lead plan was at the expected $60, and both sharers were at $30 - not the expected $15.  After discussing this with Vodafone Sales, who said the plan isn't available, I was transferred to the retention team, who offered to upgrade my plan to a more expensive plan - but they would discount the sharer to $30...

I'd go as far to say this approach from Vodafone is worse than the approach from 2D - offering a plan, to get the connection, then saying the plan is unavailable...

Pondering next steps - Vodafone have left it at I have a couple of options - terminate, accept the plan, or upgrade the plan - although have said they will get the original agent to call me - however saying they can't offer that deal any more.

Yes - I've had a bill with them. All the sharers that were supposed to be discounted, have been discounted (I have 2 that joined the VFNZ account prior to the offer).

If it will help - I could PM you the agents email address that looked after mine, I found them quite helpful.

Yes please.

Although I’m picking from my discussions today, if it’s not in there drop down list…. They can’t pick it, and therefore I can’t have it…. Seems like a conversation about 2D from a month ago :-)

Cheers
