I made a statement that I went into Auckland CBD and New Market and did not connect to the 2d 5G network. That was the end of it. I was not complaining about not connecting to it

But from what you're saying (on previous posts around you having a 2degrees supplied Samsung) you knew your device was not capable due to SW limitations?

Again, people take note of your comments, you carry a lot of weight here mate. Let's not confuse say a newcomer or casual browser. 2degrees have made it very clear they are still in testing stage so only (in the most part) parallel imported devices will do 5G right now.

Nothing to do with coverage - of which 2degrees 100% made - in my decision - the right decision in contiguous rather than hotspot.

@C0ld NR / 5G is enabled
On my s21+ as I can see it is and if I put in a SparkNZ or VodafoneNZ SIM it connects to the 5G network

Generally when carriers test new services they setup a IMSI or IMEI whitelist so only those MSISDNs / Handsets can use the service / feature

Not sure what 2d have done in this case if some imported handsets can attach to the NR / 5G network

5G has to be disabled in the carrier build for 2d software / Sims on the handset

So kind of the other way round.

If iOS then 2degrees carrier bundle will currently disable 5G option. Subject to testing. Will become available once Apple certified.

If Android (2degrees supplied) then 5G will currently be disabled. Subject to testing.

If Android (NZ supplied but not 2degrees) then likely 5G will currently be disabled. Subject to testing.

If Android (parallel imported or international device) that has 5G capability with N78 frequency support - may work. Note VoLTE / VoWiFi (and voice in general) may be limited.

on a more serious note, our mobile providers need to do something about the cost of data.... as seen earlier, a single speedtest uses over 1GB, which for Joe average has just burnt most of their months data. 5G is well and fine except it's unusable with current data plans.
