Can't just pop into a store in the morning?

Do they turn it off when they're too busy and can't get back to everyone on the night?

I suspect so but not 100% sure

I'm usually at work around 7:15am and on my way home after 5pm. So not feasible for me. Easier to just email them. :)

Currently on the old $60 endless data plan which is attached to a mobile repayment scheme. Can I change to this new plan without breaking my MRO? I note when I try and change my plan online it says I don't have the right permission. I assume it's the MRO blocking me from doing so.

@SarahRykers Can you confirm this question? I am sure others are going to ask

Somethings wrong with the universe..

The new $60 15GB\month plan will save me some coin.

I'm currently on a $55 10GB\month plan, where I share the data with my wife. That privilege costs me another $25, making a total of $80\month. I also have 2 kids one on a $10 month prepay and the other on $19 a month prepay. All in around $110 a month.

I plan on putting the wife and kids on the $10 base prepay, and myself on the $60 15GB\month plan. Open sharing with the wife, and a monthly allowance to the kids. Yes, I have to manage the sharing myself, but that's not hard.

Probably should have done this earlier.

Back in the day, you could chop and change but the lowest tier plan (old $29 carryover pay monthly) had like a $200 limit to the value of the MRO device which would stop this.

Also if you have a promo MRO eg the iPhone 13 trade in boost or the Samsung S22 savings offer these are restricted to the $60+ plans.

Why is that, you ask? Well mostly because screw the customer, and it bumps up the ARPU for the telco. I'm not really complaining; I accept that's the terms that were agreed to, but that doesn't mean it's fair or customer friendly. More importantly, when 2degrees was still really fighting for fair, that restriction used to only apply to the $29 as mentioned above - the $39/$49/$59 plan had no such restriction.

There's a lot to be said to not chopping and changing. My plan is still the old $55 10GB Carryover plan with free data sharing to wife and two daughters. Carryover data is used first.

Don't think I will ever change that :)

I did exactly that yesterday using the app, so it must either be a system glitch or specific to you/your situation.

I signed up to the $60/month plan during the Black Friday sales, so have 50% off for 6 months. I wonder if they'd let me keep that if I switched to the new $60/month plan.

Morning!

You should be able to move to the new plan without the MRO dropping 😊 The permission issue will likely be to do with your contact role in our system - if you private message me your number I can pass it on to someone to call and process for you.

Cheers,
Sarah

That one I'm not so sure on, but I'll ask and get back to you.

Just thought I'd point out something that I don't see listed but was actually a rather nice surprise for me.

The sharers get their own allocation of data - my partner got moved to this plan (which is an extra $5 per month - so $30):

$30 Carryover Group Plan - 15GB
(Freedom Term)
        15GB of NZ Carryover Data
Unlimited* Calls & Text to NZ & Aussie
        Free Data Hour every day

She then noticed in her 2degrees app there is both options to share, and she has her own allocation now. So if she runs out of her 15gb for any reason it uses my own allocation due to me having sharing with her. She also is sharing data to her iPad which just has a prepaid sim now freeing up an additional sharer slot for myself.

@SarahRykers You may want to get comms sorted with this process however. There wasn't any indication that the sharer plan would go up in price when I changed my master plan. She got a SMS today saying her plan change was complete but I did not see anything about a price increase when I changed. It was only when I checked.

Is that because a sharer is now/really actually a member of a group plan (what Vodafone call a companion)? And a data sharer is a separate thing? Or were the 'old' $25/mo sharers just sharing data and not the calls etc?

Old $25 plan got no allocation at all so were just sharing data from the plan holder and had unlimited calls / sms. Not sure how it compares to Vodafone but even though plan data is used first I do see it a good compromise over the unlimited garbage they attempted to pull!
