Still better than My Republic's, by a long shot. I do acknowledge that 2degrees have their issues however.

based on my most recent exp with my republic when i had a fibre issue (to be fair a lot of the delay was chorus but they were terrible at keeping me updated), I hope 2degress will be better.  Fingers crossed the transition goes smoothly

HeretiK: Probably worth instead signing up directly prior to the shift

(assuming you wish to be with 2D in the first instance)

Thats actually exactly what I did, and asider from messing up the direct debit, was painless

1 issue I have (and thats actually why I'm here today they seem to assign a /128 on the v6 (vocus/2degrees) address now vs /56? (or /64) that I used to have on the old connection (snap/2degrees)

@BlackV It'll be a /128 linknet with /56 routed. Common practice. I think it was once a /64 linknet with 2degrees.

How are they going to handle the plans. Looks like MyRepublic has cheaper rates then 2Degrees.

I know someone on MyRePublic and wondering if best to tell them to switch ISP’s, to get sign up benefits. They tell me their current bill is $79 a month, but they’re not sure what plan on.

The full speed plan looking up MyRepublic is $75. 2Degrees full speed (not the hyper ones) is  $109 open or $90 contract, lot higher then MyRepublic.

Im fairly sure in the email i received it said my pricing wouldn't change.  I imagine they'll bring them over and then they'll be grandfathered (as in wont be offered any longer but customers still on them can remain).  Was also told that people on fixed terms can cancel with no penalty if they wish to move

Linux: Great news to see MR exit the NZ market

I'm happy. Now I need to find another company to complain about. Like friends don't let friends shop at Countdown? Hmm... not the same.

As a happy MyRepublic customer since 2014, I will be interested to see how things go with the changeover to 2Degrees.

I have found MR's chat to be very good on the rare occasions that I have used it.

Not sure about 2D's NZ led help centre if it means you get transferred offshore. I have work induced hearing loss and have great difficulty with understanding foreign accents.

Wonder how long before 2D put the prices up to match their existing customers?

Second to the MR chat.

2D's barodband should be fine. The customer service is okay too but less convenient than MR chat.

Just changing mobile phone requires me to visit the store and pay for eSIM QR code again is the worst I have ever seen. The most expensive QR code ever. I was told I can keep using the same phone. Well...why are you selling mobile phones in your store?

[snip]As always the Chorus order was messed up and we were without internet for two and a half days.

I hardly think this is true. There must be hundreds, if not thousands of moves per day and I doubt very much they are all messed up.

I'm not saying all of them go south, but I've never had a transfer to a new isp or property go smoothly, every time there's something that goes wrong and I have to step in. Usually it's the new provider not telling the lfc it's a customer transfer so it always ends up in them having to tell losing retailer I'm off which has a minimum notice period. I found last time that I have the losing iso notice, signed up to 2D then when the inevitable happened forwarded the email saying my contract was being cancelled and then it got processed.

Me too!

When fibre became available about 7 years agp,  I moved to MR. I did a trial on 1000/1000 after a few months and kept on it for no extra cost. Needed very little contact with techs but what there were, where quick and straightforward. No complaints with MR, at all.

I bought a new router - Asus RT-AX5400 recently so will it be ok with 2D?

What other options are there for good ISPs?

@fishb8 2degrees are fine for a good ISP and yes, your router will continue to work fine. You can transfer to them however and take advantage of the new customer bonus in order to get a better Orbi router.

Also, I have a bit of a guide on ISP picking: https://murfy.nz/2018/02/06/picking-the-right-isp/
