pwner:

Nelson, or anywhere else for that matter. if it is fine during most of the day, but then slow at other times it could be due to local PON saturation, remember GPON is a shared network.

if you call into the care team they should be able to diagnose and if suitable get the LFC to possibly swap your PON segment.

Remember, Chorus make Gpon utilisation metrics available publicly - but no-one apart from me ever cared enough to download them or look at them.

Without even knowing what the OLT or port is though, I can tell you that level of performance on gig will 100%, absolutely NOT, be related to GPON segment congestion. (Because I have looked at them all, and sorted by highest - and even the worst in the country (on Chorus) is still good.

Cheers - N

I think there's also some subdivisions around that area where fibre is supplied by ThePacific/tpnet ? OP doesn't happen to be connected to that network?

During the day some work computers, 2 Macs and a PC, evenings 3 gaming PCs. Along with a host of iphones, ipads, smart home devices etc.

Up until this week we never had an issue like now. I noticed it right away when webpages became slower to open, that is what triggered me to check speeds.

Richt now 53 down and 350 up.

Interesting thread, curios about how ISP's can op out of what they advertise, read the small print etc etc.

Fibre glass the new medium for data transfer, but, but, and so it goes...there are to many gremlins, not our fault, your fault, of course.. but here is what I( am currently getting using wireless link to router and over the top of FireFox

In my experience as a tech helping clients with broadband for 20 years, I'm 99% sure this is a problem on your premises.

I agree with above suggestions for an isolation test (test with only one computer connected via network cable after disabling wifi, and then disconnect that computer and test with a second one to see if the results are consistent).

We have also seen these sorts of speeds with router configuration issues, so try another router if possible or factory reset your router and test without any configuration customisations not absolutely essential to getting connected to the ISP.

OP, have you tried any of the suggestions? Turn off wifi and disconnect everything except one device then re-test. No one can help you if you don't want to do the most basic troubleshooting steps.
