The latest: My request has been put through to have me moved back on to my old LLU. Waiting to hear back from the Orcon team.

Steve.

The Sydney server is actually transported over the Auckland Peering exchange, so it doesnt use Orcons international pipes.

Did you get speedtests from other sites or you just complaining about one speedtest out of the blue again?

As you can see, Orcon hands it over to the APE peering exchange in the Skytower. Afterthat its best effort as its outside of Orcons control.

Sounddude is "best effort" where Orcon pays something to get to Bigair.net.au via APE, or is it best effort because Orcon pays nothing, if its the Orcon pays nothing option shouldn't Orcon find a better route to Bigair.net.au for your paying customers, as they are surely paying Orcon.

Aaroona: Wohooo!

surfing like like it's 1992!

I did the same thing about 6 months ago.  After about 9 months on Orcon's LLU  I gave up in desperation with their crappy fone service and my Internet router going off line  during the nite every 4 ~ 7 days.  Since going back to "1992" the fone has been perfect and I've only had to reboot the router once.  So from my point of view "1992" is way better than "2009"

Thats a good point.
Let me rephrase.

Wohooo!
Not surfing like it's 1992!

Not ideal, but it works.

Its the best path, least number of AS hops.

I always get good speedtests from that site.

Keep in mind the entire internet is best effort, as soon as it leaves Orcon network we have no control over it or any idea of congestion. Regardless if we are paying for transit or not. Its how the internet works.

I received an email today from the Orcon provisioning team saying that I am to be joined to the purple home plan + 25GB add-on. This not an orcon+ plan so it looks like the move is happening and they are taking me back to unbundled as requested. It took a few days to get any action happening but nice to know they listen eventually.

Steve.

Hi.

Result!!!!

Orcon have moved me off their equipment at my exchange and on to the new gear in the cabinet at the end of my street.
I now have an attainable DSL download speed of 22800 and my actual download speed is now 19800!!!
Before this change I had been dropped to only 3800 as a download speed.

Go Orcon and Go SoundDude for pushing me in the right direction!!

Cheers,
Steve.
