2degrees: Hi all,

The 2c text rate is something that?automatically kicks in?on top-up from Wed 31 March.
So when you top-up your account you not only get the free text bundles (which go up in quantity based on the different top-up amounts), the 22cent calling rate but?you now also get the 2c text rate from 2degrees to 2degrees. The 2cent text rate is valid for 30-days just like the other rates etc mentioned.
If you're a customer and you've topped-up within the last 30-days you'll automatically switch onto the 2c rate which will last through to your current top-up expiry.

Cheers!

Whether you were partly responsible or not, the Herald article totally misrepresents the on-net TXT offer!!

Can you please clarify!

Is the 22c/min rate for on-net calls to 2D mobiles and to landlines PERMANENT, or only within 30 days of topping up (ie. status quo)?

If the status quo remains, then the Herald is making much ado about nothing - essentially the only change I see is that on-net TXTs after 100 are only charged at 2c instead of 9c, and this hardly sets the world on fire like the Herald articles suggests!! To be honest if that is the case then this kinda reads more like a misleading advertisement for 2 Degrees than a news article about "slashing" of mobile calling and txting charges ...

DjShadow: I raised an eyebrow when I saw the Mangawhai bit also, my aunt has a place at mangawhai heads and the only way to get a VF signal was to stand outside and get a 1-2 bar signal from leigh

tell your aunt to report the issue to vodafone. don't know if vodafone will do anything but hey it's worth a try.

I have been with Vodafone for years. Unless there is a move to reduce call costs I am heading to 2degress as soon as they introduce on plan options.
Take the hint Voda - 'look after your current customers' rather than trying to attract across from Telecom.

So is this the end of the free texts on the magic topup?

2degrees: Hi all,

The 2c text rate is something that automatically kicks in on top-up from Wed 31 March.
So when you top-up your account you not only get the free text bundles (which go up in quantity based on the different top-up amounts), the 22cent calling rate but you now also get the 2c text rate from 2degrees to 2degrees. The 2cent text rate is valid for 30-days just like the other rates etc mentioned.

This is really confusing. Is the 2c/txt rate permanent, as in if I top up on 1 April, then I will have 2c/txt to 2degrees mobiles until my credit expires (1 year)? Or is it only for a month? i.e. is it part of the magic top-up or is it a new standard rate? Because here you say "The 2cent text rate is valid for 30-days" which implies it's part of the month-long "magic top-up", whereas on FaceBook it says "everytime you top-up you can enjoy our new permanent rate of just 2c texts to 2degrees mobiles" which goes both ways - "every time" and "permanent" don't really go together. And in the NZHerald article it heavily implies that it's a new permanent rate (ie not magic top-up).

From reading more of what 2degrees has said it seems that it's been mis-reported in the news. It seems that it's only a magic top-up thing - and the 22c/min 2d-2d calls thing is no different from current. So in other words, the ONLY change is that after your free magic top-up txts are used, your 2d-2d txt rate is 2c/txt for the rest of the magic period, after which it goes back to 9c/txt. Can't complain about that, but it hasn't been communicated very well.

They did:

2degrees:
So when you top-up your account you not only get the free text bundles

langi27: $10 gets you 5000 txt's

So for all those wanting a texting plan, here it is.

2c/txt is 500 txts, not 5000.

The 2degrees post above makes it plainly clear you still get included TXTs

Talk about davinci code pricing.

Didn't take 2 degrees long to become hypocrites in that respect.

Unfortunately we can't do much about the fourth-estate.

There is no change to the 22cent rate which is for calling to 2degree mobiles and landlines.

To answer your questions: The 2cent text rate is available to customers everytime they top-up their account and (like all the other specials on top -up like: the free text bundles and the 22c rate) is valid for 30-days.

Is the 2cent text rate permanently available, yes it's permanently set at 2cents for text to 2degrees mobiles onced you've gone through your free text bundles when customers top-up.

Thanks
