I'm not sure it's limited to international traffic. I've been getting buffering buffering buffering on TVNZ OnDemand, and the streaming from there is supposed to be really good.
Orcon are moving me to the new cabinet, which is good I suppose.
Currently i'm on Silver+ (5gb +25gb) and they're moving me to Bronze (2gb+25gb). I hope I haven't been screwed out of 3GB. Also I note that plan only has 128kbits upstream so I hope they bump that up for me as well.
OH yeah, and they've changed my phone number which is not a big deal for me. I hardly use the landline.

Read in another section of this forum - I need to find the link - that 128k upload is not being offered from the 1st Septemner. Does that mean that all plans from the 1st on Orcon will be FS/FS and not 10 extra for FS/FS?

Notice that last night I could just keep up with the buffering of several You Tube videos (360p), but the 300k TVNZ OnDemend videos were buffering. HTTP downloads were under 256k speed as well.

Yes, your new plan will be FS/FS, regardless of what the 'standard' options of the plan are.
While my request for my data pack usage to be dropped has gone into effect, it seems like the request for less upload speed hasn't. Why bother paying for more upload speed to get a better download speed when you can't even get 1Mbit during peak times
I'm on Orcon in Mangere Bridge, I was just switched to UBS in the new local cabinet, because the cabinet ruined our LLU connection to the exchange 3 Kms away in Onehunga. Now, although my physical connection is fast (20-21Mbps down), international traffic is so SLOW I can't load a youtube video in real time. Have to start it loading, walk away, make a cup of coffee, walk the dog, come back and watch it. Pathetic! And Orcon confirmed after me doing a plethora of tests, that there is no other cause possible but their own traffic shaping. On demand is usually pretty good for me here, but last night it was terrible, especially the ads between chapters, they were so jerky to load a 30 second ad was taking about 5 minutes to play... and you can't fast forward or skip the ads... GRRR!
I want to change to the Telecom equivalent plan, but I'm worried that I'll have the same traffic shaping issues with Telecom. I don't care about the technical details, I just want to be able to at least stream a youtube video in real time at at least 360... Higher would be better. I don't want to change to Telecom, sign up to a 12Mth contract, and find it's exactly the same. Of course I can't find that out from Telecom, all I'll get as a pre-customer is their marketing sales pitch crap... Then as an actual customer all I'll get is electronic voices on the other end of the phone and hold music, followed by them asking me to do an isolation test, after turning the router off then on again!
Oh and to confirm others who are being switched to the UBS/UBA in the cabinet from Orcon LLU (+), yes, as in my case, you will still get the same data amounts, FS/FS, voice mail, call waiting, and caller ID, as you had included on the "+" plan, but without having to pay extra for them, as if you had just signed up on the UBS plan. Which is good, because the plan is $10 more, then it's another $10 for FS/FS, then it's another $15 for the phone features, plus another $2.50 for wiring and maintenance... So that's a total of $36.50 extra per month that it would have cost to get the same plan on UBS rather than LLU.
