Hi Nikki, whats the reason for not allowing new NDSL without an existing phone number? Has Telecom not fixed the "failed install" issues that randomly occur without a full install when they connect the wrong pair?

At least you could offer full install, even though it shouldn't otherwise be necessary with NDSL. If the contractor finds no need for wiring upgrade then Telecom should normally credit the install fee later on, otherwise customer will get more reliable service with the wiring fixed.




Time to find a new industry!

That's a bit screwed up imo, when I provision plans through work I am able to just provision it as ADSL w/o POTS, there's no messing around with Telecom with this.

My mate was the same, he was gonna join Slingshot nADSL, they told him to join Telecom first, so in the end he ended up just joining Snap who had the connection up in 3 working days (quite impressive from my point of view)

Hi guys,

Nikki has asked me to reply on her behalf -

A1. To be honest it?s due to a system limitation at our end. We are making progress on fixing it though and you can see this by seeing my answer to your next question ?

A2. We?ve fixed this! Customers can now sign-up for Slingshot Homeline and Broadband without having an active connection. You can then transfer to n-DSL but you?d need to request this once your connection has gone through. Unfortunately, you?d still need to pay for the time you had your Homeline connected. Yes, it was strange we haven?t always been able to offer this but in the days of Slingshot doing tolls-only it wasn?t a problem. Our contact centre staff can handle this without any problems / delays.

So, we do want to be able to get customers to join our n-DSL plan from day one but we?re not quite there yet I?m afraid.

So if I wanted to get SlingShot I would have to ask for the homeline and broadband (25 gig plan) and then once connected ask to change to nDSL? so I would pay $47 for the phoneline even though I am only going to have it connected for a day or so and not even use it.

So am I right that my first months bill will be $127 ($47 for phoneline (might as well call it installation cost and $80 for 25 gig plan) subsequent months will be $80 providing I dont buy datablocks?

And have telecom fixed their system as well? So will the telecom installer now check that its working on the pairs being used on actual jackpoints when provisioning the service?

I see no replies from SS on this yet.

I just signed up with Slingshot, not sure why; the service better be bloody good as far as I'm concerned after an $80 connection fee to get Naked DSL.
I think its $50 for the new line connection fee and then $25 to disconnect the line to get Naked DSL.
So im paying $80 for a connection fee; you mentioned I will have to pay the monthly phone line bill for the 1 day I will have a slingshot land line @ $47 is this correct? so my connection fee is actually going to be $126?
