----Good side is I can break the Telecom contract to bounce to the Slingshot contract.----

You arent on a Telecom Contract if you are on Big Time, you have not been since the letters were first sent. I just popped this is as I still see many asking how to break the contract, etc

Cheers
Tony

I think you missed my tongue-firmly-in-cheek-point. I did have a contract with Telecom Broadband which I signed up for and moved from another ISP from so they could supply the Big Time service for 12 (or 24? Months.) Telecom broke that contract, and I was tongue in cheek making the point that the Slingshot has a similar contract period, and it seems the only people the contract helps is the ISP's - they can seem to get our of the agreement to supply said service for period of time because 'they misunderstood the vampires.'

My point was I would love to have Telecom be forced by contract to supply Big Time for the length of my contract period. :)

I wonder how long the Slingshot service will last, will we see a Super Big Time? Will TelstraClear ever peer again?

Who knows.

Well if you beleive you had a fixed contract, why don't you take them to the disputes tribunal.
AS ISPs wirte the contract it is obviously written for their benefit, incase unforeseeable things happen.
If one ISP is able to provide this plan in a sustainable way, then other ISPs will match or better it.

Because it's a waste of time, and my post was firmly-tongue in cheek. I don't think I'd be able to get them to keep providing the service.

Interesting enough I have a friend which rolled over on Thurs/Friday on Big Time...and now has Big Time...Not the Pro plan.

Hi everyone,

More details will be available on Thursday of this week.

If you want to register your interest in the meantime, please email us on allyoucaneat@team.slingshot.co.nz

By emailing us, you'll reserve a spot for yourself (as it's limited to the first 10K customers) and you'll be the first to receive more info via email on Thursday.
The email will include plan info, pricing etc, plus instructions on how to sign-up.

Don't worry - emailing us won't automatically sign you up to the new plan or anything. It just  gives you the option of signing up, once you've received the full plan info on Thursday.

Thanks,
The Slingshot team

Does anyone know if you can get a static IP address on this connection?

I have emailed and asked to reserve a spot in this plan, I didn't get a confirmation email or anything though so hopefully my email doesn't slip through the cracks.

Looking forward to hear more details about this plan :)

Agreed, not all p2p can be done on the seedbox I am buying at the moment, if I find something that is only on a public tracker I have do download it on the home connection since public trackers are blocked on any sane seedbox provider.

But if it works like the current plan but I am not paying for data it will be fine. My biggest complaint about slingshot at the moment is the low performance when I am paying per gig. IMO if I am paying per gig I should get it fullspeed without any shaping or pranks with my TCP connections being spoofed etc.

Just discovered I have been changed from Big Time to Adventure on Telecom today so i was wondering whether just sign ups are going to be done from Thursday or is the plan going to be usable (ie customers put on the plan) from Thursday?

Adventure is capped to 64k once you hit the cap. (I don't understand why everyone seems to think that it has overage charges as only pro does...)

Great, so your plan is changed without warning to one that will break after a few days usage as you have been in the past, with no way to get working internet again without changing plan or ISP.

Insane cockup by telecom there, they should have disclosed the exact date that the change would happen to every customer so that they knew when they had to start being scroogelike with internet use.
