After over 6 whole months of ridiculously slow speeds, slingshot have finally gotten round to fixing my issue! I can't even remember how many calls and speed issues I have lodged but finally I can use the internet again! The Issues with youtube have gone, Skype now works, torrents run fine, I can use filehosting sites like megaupload again. Every problem with my internet has now been fixed :D

To everyone with slingshot having problems with their internet speed Keep pestering them. There is no reason you should have to deal with a problem like this for this amount of time. I am glad it's fixed now but Taking half a year and even forgetting about my issue... I expected better from slingshot. But putting that behind me it's sure great to have my 16Megabit line speed back :D I was getting speeds of less than 3 megabits and sometimes as low as 0.5 Megabits.

The real measure of success will be whether your new speed remains relatively consistent from now on.

my torrents were flying last night from 9pm till the 1am everything stops time.

Yeah :/ I sure hope it does. This is my last round with slingshot, if the speed goes bad again I'm definitely leaving them.

I don't think so (Well I hope not :P), I rang them a couple of days ago and got told that the issue would be passed down to a tech guy who would look into it. The tech guy then rang me the next day confirming the issue and said it would get resolved within the week.

OP probably forgot to use a DSL modem when upgrading from dial up  :D

Sorry, I wasn't told what the problem or fix was. (Nothing on my end though) I was told I'd get a call but didn't get one. But since they managed to fix it overnight after I called them, it couldn't of been too difficult.

I can see why you would think I should change if It was during those 6 Months, But why would I want to go through the effort of changing ISP when I'm a satisfied customer at the moment? Sure it may not stay the same and the speed might deteriorate, But there's also a possibility that the speed could keep being fast. Taking out all past problems, I'm not going to change ISP unless I have a reason to.

Typically changing ISP takes <10 working days, a lot faster than 6 months.

Excessive loyalty to poorly performing companies doesn't give them the message they need to pick up their act.

Kiwi's (generalising here) are really bad at being willing to change provider after bad service.
