Yeah on Orcon here - used to be 1+mb download speeds (since our cabinet was upgraded). Last night downloading something it was at 5.2kb/s for a while - then maybe around 50kb/s...

This supposedly when there was a rumour about Orcon making Steam not count towards the cap... maybe it was just a rumour Yell [Edit: just read through the thread and saw some references to Orcon's own Steam node - this would be awesome, esp if it was part of the 0zone]

Having said that I downloaded FEAR3 about 2 weeks ago and it was pretty fast - so maybe it's just the Steam sale on at the moment that is slowing things down.

Or a gamer that lives near your exchange or whatever.. I bought the same game as my other mate on Telecom network and his one finishes much quicker; no matter which server he chooses. I'm still around 20 to 30kB/s

Currently there's only 1 public Steam Content Server in NZ (ie. open to all ISPs), and over the massive Steam sale a few weeks ago it was getting pillaged pretty hard.

As mentioned above by Sounddude, this is all about to change. :)
