Hi I have signed up with the $60 unlimited deal replacing the telecom broadband service I have currently. If it all goes well I want to go Naked (NDSL). I have 2talk account with a few lines and this service works well now( with Telecom DSL).

I understand VOIP gets priority on Slingshots unlimited deals so hopefully it will work well.

I am on a chorus cabinet(Welcome Bay,Tauranga) would my connection be EUBA0?

dman: I read that the unlimited and the capped plans have different pools of data allocated to them, thus the performance between them could vary.

We're leaning heavily towards the naked unlimited one, if we found it isn't working for us could we switch to the naked 30gig plan without incurring the $149 charge for terminating? (as we'd still be with slingshot, & we could probably manage with just 30gigs... but only just!)

The $60 uncapped plan is risk free as there is no contract so you are free to leave it when ever you want even to another telco.
Having said that for us it has been a very good plan so far with very good speed.

It is not "risk free" for us as we're on Slingshot's unlimited naked DSL, which has a minimum contract length.

The naked one is not the $60 plan? The term is the reason I am sticking to the plan with the redundant landline for not much more than the cost of the naked. Means if it goes to the dogs again I can leave without issue. Or like if another ISP was to offer unlimited but on something faster etc.

Quite right.
Sorry, didn't read your post properly.
In that case if you have any reservations, I think richms approach might be the best.
As he points out there is very little difference in price between phone line and naked particularly with LLU.
I can say though you will not have a problem on the $60 uncapped plan, it has been nothing short of brilliant for us. All I have to do now is move my phone line to SS and go on LLU connection which should make it even faster + lots of smart phone features for free.

As far as I am aware:

If you're on LLU, you don't get to choose. (Depending on your line, you may have it partially on.)
If you're not on LLU, it should be off by default.

ALTRON: Interleaving off not possible on the unlimited plan?

actually, thats what I was wondering the other day. I remember when I  was with Slingshot a few years ago, they had the option on the my account page. But for the unlimited plan (or maybe its just standard not to offer it now), its not on the page.

I might have to ring Slingshot and ask their CS's about it.

That option was removed ages ago (when customers were migrated to UBA.)

Interleaving can be toggled on or off on all access plans. As there are a number of access technologies, we don't present the option for all of them in the my account section yet. Ultimately we will. If its not visible, a contact centre rep should be able to make this change.

AdrianD: Hi guys, here is a geekzone special so you can check whether you are buba or euba.

If it returns nothing you are probably LLU / Better Network.

We have migrated customers to euba as fast as possible where it is available, however there are a few more that we will be doing in the new year.

Enter your account code in the form below. You can find your account code on your bill or most Slingshot correspondence.

http://slingshot.co.nz/ubatype/default.aspx

I tried a "million times" and I got "Invalid capcha code" every time... ! :-s

I switched yesterday from Slingshot LLU with phone line to naked/unlimited. My sync speeds went from 7100/1200 to 5000/900. Real world results also noticably worse... FYI I can literally throw a stone from my front door and hit the cabinet. Line Attenuation is 29.5/16.9 db, SNR 12/12db

Called helpdesk and they said log a ticket on the website, I always thought that was their job.

I have noticed service degradation over the last few weeks. My connection used to receive a solid 1.5-1.6 MB/s downstream but this has now dropped to 700-800 Kbit/s.

Just an FYI, the capacity looks like it is filling up :)

I haven't had any issues. I was downloading two torrents yesterday, one at about 1.1MB/s and the other around 400KB/s.
