Your old provider should have received a "churn" Notice from the wholesaler to advise them we have taken services then they should be cancelling from there, It does always pay to call them and make sure they got this tho as they seem to go missing on occasion.

eUBA or bUBA is decided by the wholesaler at time of connection,

If you want to be on eUBA instead pm me and ill see what i can do.

 I've just signed up for the unlimited plan.  We've been on Telecom's broadband since they brought out that 128k plan back in 2001 I think it was.  The no contract part was what sold it to the other people in the household.  Can't hurt to give it a try.

Just a follow up.  I'm now on the slingshot unlimited plan.  I was connected 2 days after putting in the request, which was a day earlier then the original estimate.

Unfortunately even 2 days later (a day before my next billing cycle with Telecom), my Telecom broadband was still active.  I had to ring Telecom myself and sort that out.  After it was dealt with they gave me a reference number and told me to give it to Slingshot.  When I phoned Slingshot to pass that on, I was basically told we don't want that number, we've already done everything we are going to do.

Atleast I took the time to check it had been transferred over properly myself or I'd have been billed for an additional month.  Other then that things seem to be going pretty smoothly.  I downloaded ~60gb over the first 2 days, which was equal to my data cap for the month on the Telecom plan.

Speedtests from Friday at 2pm.





DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1.033 / 11.191
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12,0 / 19,0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 18,5 / 31,5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 13,0 / 12,5

Sorry if anyone has already asked but is there any concrete evidence that there is a difference between the unlimited plans and the capped plans? Trying to weigh up Slingshot or Snap! as my ISP. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

The two groups definitely perform differently, and I've run into a couple of sites that won't load on AYCE that will do on a capped plan.

Not loading for me on AYCE slingshot, but after seeing the resulting page on my snap connection I think the internet is better with it not loading.

Cool its ok to not understand it takes most of us a wile to get our heads around it, theres plenty more were those come from but I wont bore you with pages and pages of telecommunications lingo...

UBA = Unbundled Access
This is the telecom product for consumer level broadband.

eUBA = Enhanced Unbundled Access
Enhanced at this stage doesn't have dimensioning levels and is a ADSL2+ product. We are currently in the process of moving alot of our customers onto eUBA links as bUBA links don't have enough bandwidth for days basic needs.

bUBA = Basic Unbundled Access
This is telecoms legacy Unbundled Access product for wholesalers this comes in dimensioning limits of 45,75,100kbit per subscriber.

DSL = Digital Subscriber Line
Too much history here its best if you read for your self http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_subscriber_line
Essentially in New Zealand most DSL connections are over a phone line with POTS.

nDSL = Naked Digital Subscriber Line
DSL Service without a POTS phone line, pick up the phone and theres no dial tone.

LLU = Local Loop Unbundled
This is the term used for a connection that is not a Telecom wholesaled product.

Is there any way for someone on the unlimited plan to check how much data they've used this month? I know there is no data cap, but I'd still be curious to know how much I've used. I couldn't find it on the customer control panel on slingshot's website.
