Gday, we're moving out of our rental, we had Just Broadband NDSL, what do we need to do to restore the phone line to its original state for the next occupant? (Couldn't find an answer on the slingshot website)
Cheers.

p.s. haven't found a place to move into yet but when we eventually do we will go back on Just Broadband.

Hi giollarnat,

There is nothing that you need to do to restore your current Naked DSL line to a standard line. When the new tenants of the house decide to get a phone line, their provider will send out a technician to connect them up. The technician will be able to change the line back to a standard phone line at this time.

Hi Slingshot

Do you have your gear in the Massey (MSY) exchange in West Auckland?

Or in fact any way to connect me at all? I am outside a cabinet area apparently and Telecom tell me there are no free ports in the exchange (I think someone called it Portwait Hell :-) )

Cheers

Hi Virgil,

The Massey exchange does cover a large part of West Auckland, and as far as I know off the top of my head we do have equipment in that exchange, but I would need to confirm this. Would you be able to PM me your address and I can quickly double check that for you?

I get the problem on all my PC's 2 are windows 7 one OSX. have tried chrome, firefox, safari and ie.

when the fault happens my iphone can connect to the affected pages fine on the same wifi.

Do Slingshot support the Annex M ADSL2+ profile for customers connected via their LLU (Better Network?) equipment?

If so, are you able to hint at a time frame for both the exchanges in Wellington to be unbundled? I'm not looking for dates but something better than "idk, we'll let you know" ;)

Hi 1080p,

We do support Annex M on most of our own equipment, but it is exchange dependent. You can always try enabling it in your modem and letting us know how it goes? :)

As for the Wellington exchange unbundling, we do already have serveral unbundled exchanges in Wellington. What exchanges specifically are you talking about? I can have a quick look into it for you.

Hi techmeister,

With effected websites, do you find they are only https websites? You can check this in the address bar of your web browser.

Thanks for your reply but it seems to be something with my router
Some how it is filtering some websites, go figure!
So don't think it is a Slingshot issue

Well Slingshot has failed at the first hurdle. I signed up about for the $90 unlimited naked plan 2 weeks ago. Even though I live in the middle of Alexandra (population ~6000) for some reason some ISP's class this as rural. World exchange doesn't currently charge me the $20 rural connection fee, but when I looked at snap they said they would. Using the slingshot online address checker thingy it said they wouldn't charge me. So I was very careful in checking that they wouldn't charge the extra $20 a month when I signed up for the service.

Got sent the welcome letter 3-4 days after I signed up which told me I had to either authorise a direct debit or give them my credit card details before connection went ahead, no worries. Printed out DD form off their website and sent that in last week. Been meaning to give them a call to see where connection is at but hadn't got around to it. Then this morning I got a call to say that someone had been out to the exchange to switch me over and they then realised I am on a rural connection thus now it would be an extra $20 a month to get the unlimited naked plan, thus costing $110 a month. Talk about fail. Not impressed and am still undecided if I actually will switch to Slingshot or stick with Worldexchange. You better fix your online address checking tool so this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Hi k14,

I would like to apologise for the issue you experienced with our address checker.  This tool is used to provide indicative information about plans and speed at time of signup. We have asked our marketing team to address this issue on the website with a message for when this tool is used.

Slingshot will of course honor the $90 pricing you were originally quoted should you choose to continue with your signup. What I can do for you is apply a bulk credit on your account of $240 (the $20 per month price difference for the first 12 months) if you are happy to make the switch over to Slingshot.

Would you be able to send me a private message including your account number and I can get this organised for you as soon as possible.

-Shaun

Hi Shaun

Thanks for the prompt response, that sounds pretty good. I have been contacted by Aaron via twitter so sent him an email, should I contact you too or will he deal with it?

I'm happy again :)
