Oriphix:
ar0r: International traffic download on torrents tonight continued to be <2KB/sec during peak hours, which started about a week ago (probably started to notice serious throttling a week and a half ago?).  Someone else mentioned also observing peer to peer heavily throttled. Haven't done any testing on non-p2p traffic yet, general web surfing has been OK but youtube has always been aweful with Orcon for me.  Had my fingers crossed that it will magically fix itself but might need to post some speed tests.

I'm still trying to get my head around throttling and shaping.  For example, I'm downloading data on Steam from the Orcon server and yet I observe massive shaping.  Steam reports up to 1.8MB/sec and then all the way down to 0KB/sec and then up and then down again.  Same shaping on p2p too.  What's the purpose of shaping Steam traffic like this?  Why can't we just have decent internet, I feel like we pay enough for it.

Yup Torrents are nerfed at the moment.
Mine has been like that for about 2-3 weeks now. was hoping they would fix it but no luck.

I was wonderin what was goin on with my torrents

Even if they offer my internet for free in the future as a plan I wouldn't accept it, Orcon please don't compare your internet to a Ferrari it is slower than my bicycle.

Oriphix:
MadEngineer: Ours improved after the outage the other day as mentioned a page or so back. We had to restart our genius for the connection to come back up.

Did you also get such an outage? Maybe you need to manually restart your connection for any improvements to apply?

I did a factory reset on the genius didn't do much though.

Also, it would seem the genius is such a pos that if you start to load it up with customisations it quickly becomes unreliable. Chorus installer indicated the same to me that others had better luck by turning off as many features as possible.

it's nothing to do with the genius modem as up until 2~3 weeks ago I was pulling 1.4MBps (MegaBytes) now however I'm lucky if I get 450KB on a good day on a torrent with 14000 seeders

Yup same problem here. The high ping has become stable for the past 3-4 days now but they nerfed the torrents. I just hope they fix it surely they are losing customers over this drama.

actually I'll correct that I get 75KBps on a 284MB torrent with 14000+ seeders and it took well over an hour to download what used to take 8~9 minutes

Yep, what's the point of these high data plans if they nerf torrents like this. Hope they fix it cause I'm not paying $99/month so I can read emails. Youtube +  Orcon = TERRIBLE as well.

Edit: VPN made a massive instant difference so they are definitely up to something. Although my VPN traffic is also terrible, who knows a good one?

I had some torrents running last night, till about 2 am it was struggling to reach 20KB/s. Suddenly at 2AM it sped up and was hitting around 2MB/s.

yup happens to me. It is fine up till about 4.30pm, then crap till 2 am and then back up to 2.8MB/s. It is definitely Orcon shaping traffic. Its not the Genius Router. And it is almost to the minute that the speeds drops / increases occur.

Absolutely abysmal right now, I have a raid (World of Warcraft) in 10 minutes and I'm sitting at 700ms latency in game.

Should just have this thread closed and add to the original post to say "DEAL WITH IT". Really looks like Orcon won't or can't fix this issue no matter how much we complain.

Edit: At the moment I'm thinking of just paying the disconnection fee and switching over to Slingshot. Same price, better speeds, better ping.
