Just FYI (ongoing spam wars):

My Orcon home phone account emails my voicemails to a gmail account.
Recently (btw 26 Mar and 14 Apr), Gmail started flagging/routing this as spam.
I think I have fixed this for my own Gmail, but others may get this?
Orcon support have been informed...

Not much we can do about that - those voicemail notifications are by their very nature almost identical to each other and therefore share some characteristics with spam. Additionally Gmail operates a self-report system so if some users mark such notifications as spam then Gmail will assume similar notifications sent to others are spam and mark them as such.

You have the option to mark those messages as "not spam" and that should solve the issue for you.

I am curious: Does Orcon use SPF or DKIM on their emails? If not, they might want to look into that, it could make the emails pass through the spam-filters.

We have SPF records but due to the nature of ISP emails, they have to be wide open, as it could break legacy customers using another ISP's SMTP server but with from email of Orcon.

Some people use the "SPAM" button to mark an email as spam and stop receiving other notifications, instead of unsubscribing or changing service options.

The dumb actions of some people impact in everyone else's enjoyment...

Although that could also point to a flaw with gmails system. But because it is free, people don't complain about it to google, not that they provide free personal support for free email.

You'd hope that their spam filtering algorithm would place a higher weight on 'Not spam' reports to counter this - I can't think why anyone would hit 'Not spam' out of laziness

Because spammers would simply setup "clean" accounts to mark their own spam as not spam and thereby further penetrate anti-spam filters.

The header shows gmail accepted the spf check and it has an x-spam-score of -1 so they shouldn't be getting flagged at all.
