Hi all
I'm trying to figure out what's causing a connection issue
Firstly I'm on Orcon VDSL Unlimited, here are some stats up front that might help


speedtest.orcon.net.nz
Last Result:
Download Speed: 35476 kbps (4434.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 9426 kbps (1178.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 32 ms

Modem Stats


Basically I'm playing Wildstar at the moment, all through beta and up till this week I didn't have much of a lag issue, I usually get around a 180 ping (Which I'm used too playing on US servers)
Between 7pm and atleast 12am I've been getting constant lag freezes, in game ping only moves about 5ms but everything except me stops moving and I can't use any skills then all of a sudden everything rushes in fast forward, happens constantly between these times and nearly all day on the weekend.  I know these a technically "Peak Hours" but I'm wondering why it's only started this week
Also my router has been dropping connections during this time randomly and sometimes I can't access google.co.nz but google.com works

Wildstar Server IP I think is 64.25.35.100



Ran pingplotter while playing and when it plays up as in the above description that's the trace result I get
when I'm not running the game it looks like this



Any help appreciated :D

- you have reset your modem and router

 


 

- your PC (or other PCs in your LAN) is not downloading large files when you are testing

 

- you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap

 


 

- your tests are always done on an ethernet connection to the router - do not use wireless for testing

Make sure you provide information for other users to help you. If you have not already done it, please EDIT your post and add this now:

 



 

- Your ISP and plan

 


 

- Type of connection (ADSL, ADSL2, VDSL)

 


 

- Your modem DSL stats (do not worry about posting Speedtest, we need sync rate, attenuation and noise margin)

 


 

- Your general location (or street)

 


 

- If you are rural or urban

 


 

- If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin

 


 

- If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service

 


 

- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above

 



 

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

 



 

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.
