So I officially left Orcon on the 20th of this month (after giving my 1 month notice).

When I rang up on the 17th to say that my new ISP had taken over, the lady at the help desk said a courier bag would be sent out to retrieve my Orcon router, fine.

1 week later, no courier bag has shown up and my final bill has just arrived with a $250 charge for not returning the router that is sitting in its box on my desk waiting for that mysterious courier bag...

Sigh.

Can't wait for the next exciting call to Orcon Help Desk once they open this morning!

My concern however is that even if the bag were to show up in the next day or so and I courier it back to them, given courier times and general Orcon action time, chances are I will be billed for this no matter what, then have to wait a month or more for Orcon to refund my $250.

Most people and companies are reasonable when approached reasonably. Talk to them, it'll likely be sorted.

If you pay by direct debit tell them they do not have permission to debit your bank account, and maybe remove their permission to do it with your bank.

Also you could just send it back yourself, might cost $10.

Those were pretty much my general thoughts on the matter.

Previously I have been paying by credit card, but i have just switched it to invoice so that I don't get billed.
I will have to see what they say when I call up this morning, but previous billing issues with Orcon haven't exactly left me overly confident that this will be sorted in a logical manner.

When I left Orcon (only because they couldn't provide fibre at my new address in a "cable" area) I was sent two reply-paid bags! (I still have one of them.)

Dont worry about the charge, I had the same thing and didnt pay it - soon as they got my modem the charge was reversed.
Just dont take too long about getting the modem back to them or else you may find it eventually goes to their credit control team which can lead to debt collection....

So after calling them up to check on things, I had them send another bag which then arrived the next day (send date was the day I called).

Obviously the original courier bag has disappeared into the ether...
