Hi, been with orcon for 3 years now and it is completely garbage last November i got to know that VDSL is available at my address, thus i gave a call to orcon and confirmed it.

 

The sales rep of orcon said that it is indeed available.

 

Before: with ADSL i used to get 7 mbps down

 

After New Connection: VDSL - 5 mbps down, 800 kbps up.

 

After new Connection: ADSL - 6 mbps down, 1 kbps up

 

So i moved to vdsl, but found out that my address had the copper line from a cabinet very far away and not from closest one. It shows " VDSL" available at my address even on chorus and other isp websites, but actually not.

 

Thus i requested orcon to cancel the new contract and give my adsl connection back as i did not get what i should get.

 

So they cancelled my new account and put me back to adsl.

 

But the problem is, when orcon switched me to New Account, is did not deactivate my old account.

 

And i was getting bills from my new & old account.

 

My wife did not know that there was a different login for new account and she was paying to the old account which was supposed to be closed ans the New account was showing overdue.

 

i cancelled my New Contract early January. when the orcon team said that they have passed it to accounts department and they will refund it. Its now March and still they have not done it.

 

Last week i got an email from orcon with the new bill showing $400 overdue.

 

 Thus i gave a call to orcon, After talking to the lady, she said that its still in process. She said that i do not have to pay anything right now until the account is resolved. I even asked her if this will affect my connection , she said "NO". 

 

Today is 19th march and i have my connections blocked.

 

called tech department as they were the only ones available (due to sunday), but after talking to some guy name dan, seems he could not anything as its accounts department that have blocked it.

 

I am now frustrated with this orcon. 2 months since i asked them something and still not done.

 

So only option i am left is to change to a different ISP.

 

Or are there an other options ?

I didn't know you can actually switch back to ADSL! Are you using the same modem? I am having the same problem, Orcon and Chrous used to say VDSL was not avaiable in my address, but after a few months I tried again on Orcon's website, it showed 'VDSL available', so I was excited, thought they have upgraded some hardware, so I went ahead and get VDSL installed, turned out to be a BIG F*@KING MISTAKE, yes I have better download speed, but I CANNOT UPLOAD, eg. backs up my photos to google will KILL MY INTERNET! So I thought I would just have to wait till UFB installed in 2019, but recently I have very sh*t connection, tried their HELPLESSDESK was complete waste of time.

 

I guess your option will be, change to another ISP.

Yes you can switch back to ADSL with no extra cost / cancellation charges.

 

Yes i am using the new modem they provided when i moved to VDSL.

 

Yes moving to another isp would be an option but which.

 

All other isp's are similar

it took about 2 days for them to switch me back. i had internet those 2 days even. it was early jan this year.

it took about 2 days for them to switch me back. i had internet those 2 days even. it was early jan this year.

Gave them a ring and I got told in order to switch back to ADSL, I need to sign up for another 12 months contract. LOL, No!
