My unit's DNS lookup functionality seems to keep randomly dying.  It's fine for a while (1-3 days) and then I need to restart it or some random hostnames won't resolve.

For instance, right now it's out.reddit.com.  A web tool resolves it fine and it's clearly operational.  The two DNS servers specified in the modem's status page are also responding to pings.

I just restarted and it's working again - for now.

Anyone else having issues with this, or know how to resolve it?  I wish I could use my asus ADSL2+ router, that thing was super reliable :(

What firmware do you have? DNS issues on these were a very old bug fixed probably 2 years ago now that seemed to be caused by Apple devices on the network.

Have you tried turning off the DNS proxy setting?

Is there somewhere I can update this?

I have the same problem very occasionally, but I can always fix the problem by doing a flushdns without having to touch the NF4V. DNS Proxy is on, software version R5B032.

Interesting - I've been having similar issues.    Periodically DNS stops resolving on my computers and phones.  doing an IPConfig /flushdns fixes it.  But it doesn't solve the problem on mobile devices.

I haven't called Orcon Support as it's usually a very frustrating experience dealing with the call center, so thinking about changing ISP's would be easier solution to fix it :)

I'd love to know a fix for this.  Open to suggestions :)

Didn't work for me. That killed DNS completely :(

You have to then disconnect and reconnect all your devices so they pick up the internet DNS server settings ;)
