if i change the mode to plain gdmt i get higher connect speeds but a lot of disconects and i mean alot every 30 secs or so

Hi, 53db is around 4km of cable which would typically give around 3-4M/s sync, if 4km sounds right (I dont know where you live in relation to your exchange) then your probably going as good as it gets. If however think you are infact much closer than 4km to your exchange then you may have some issues to resolve.

Edit: between your modem and the DSLAM when you force ADSL1 (.dmt) it appears they are targeting a very low S/N 6dB whcih will explain the unstable connection.

dont put much stock in the db for this modem it is artificialy high as every other modem i've had and used on this connection tells me 49~50 min/max where as the huawei somehow creates extra attenuation for no real apparent reason other than to mess with the snr
