dude, his name is Satire... obviously on proxy and not afraid to be banned. Let's get back to your issue.

If I were them, I'd send the tech guys out, claiming to fixed the line. Put you on some awesome line priority over all other lines, no more problems for you. And you stop complaining.

Until your neighbour does.

Or

If they consider the possible repercussion to this is too great, they might tell you that there's nothing wrong with your line. And that you may need different equipment. In the mean while, give you a better line some time later.

The point is, when you use their service, they can shaft you anyway they want. They don't want to shaft you if they can, but they have to. Numbers are looking pretty ugly for them.

hmm if you have tried all those modems (though i note not linksys in the list) and you are still getting those disconnections only things i can think of that would be interfering with ya is the following

1) Electric fence interference
2) House alarm interference
3) Sky PPV box interference
4) Filters are all crap all through your house, if you got house wiring and it is still crap, try filters
5) Too far from the exchange so you keep getting dropped. nothing you can do there except move house
6) You are on a bad card, so a call out to ask to move to a new card may help but if your exchange is full no luck there
7) Telecom simply hates you with a passion
8) crappy wiring in your house, had a case once of a cable running underneath where a hose leaked, screwed up the wiring despite the fact it was buried

Could any of those above be giving you grief at all?

Oh right didn't check if he was on Proxy, never mind him anyhow.

Hmm I asked about being on a priority profile, they have said there is no such thing.

My neighbour is with Orcon, on bad speeds, but he is a Mexican international student whos english is not so great and nor is his Korean girlfriends. He has asked me in some form or sense when I get this problem resolved, if I do... too let him know about his issues; being Disconnects, poor Wireless and slow speeds.

Yes I had a run in with senior management, she did not like the fact she has a dense English "England" accent and I told her in a way she is "obviously not kiwi", she then got her period and throw the toys out of the pen and said she wont be racial insulted about not being a Kiwi. Which is a different story, considering your parents can be Indian from India, you can be born here and your'e a "Kiwi", Paul Henry found this out the hard way. Anyhow.

Please explain "Numbers are looking pretty ugly for them" - meaning the amount of bad complaints, people leaving or the over usage of equipment due to new customers?

Actually, nah, not on a proxy and if an admin did an RDNS on the IP I am posting from could trace my real name pretty easily.

Also, your 'fix' kinda shows why you are not in the position to actually fix these kinda faults. The first thing that should happen is to figure out exactly where the slowdown is occurring, then why and then (I know, wait for it) actually FIX the problem.

There are so many 'bits' in the little twisty maze of tubes between his PC and the speed test sites he has been testing to it's not funny, each one should be tested in order to find out what part if failing and when found a resolution worked out.

A customer ranting that they know where the problem is doesn't make them right. especially when some of the random data that has been thrown together here seems to point to the problem being at or close to their end.

But then.. what would I know

Hang on, did I read this right ? You've been paying for an ADSL2 product for the past 32 years ?

That's your first post.  What? Come on and make a comment like that based on what?  Your elitism?   That's an attack in my book.  Trying to correct someone's possible mistype or the fact you may be misinterpreting it in the first place is justification for your actions?

Satire: You don't like to actually answer questions do you ? just spout a lot of pointless words.

Oh you want to attack me now Mr know-it-all?  Am I one of your "uneducated" geekzone people that you referred to?  I'll assure you, I'm not.  I have nothing pointless to say unlike your contributions to date.

Shall we start easy for you now ? lets see if you can answer one question.
Where did I attack a poster ?

See above.

go on, use the little quote tags, maybe even quote the post number too for completeness.

Thanks for your help.  My lack of knowledge would have made that so demanding I may have had to create another account and post a question on how to do it.  Oh wait ...

Also, as for 'walking away' are you implying that the best course of action is staying with an ISP that gives you crap service and ignores all attempts to contact them and get it resolved or gives you misleading information ? and you DID realise we were talking about 'if someone is having problems with their ISP and they are not getting resolved' right ? not posting on forums and then quitting after someone throws some insult at you

Read better.

As for your little edit Mr 66 post guy - I don't have to earn your respect, nor do I particularly want to.

I wasn't asking for your respect nor do I want it.  My point is that you shouldn't come on here the way you have as you will not get any respect from anyone.  Not that you want it obviously.  I suggest you stick to gamer forums.

Oh.. that's right, you're ignoring me now, I'm so deflated.

No not at all.  I have thick skin.  And believe me I'm being careful what to say.

No she took it way out of context as her current conversation of how "They are right" was actually incorrect and the terms she made about the account were actually not followed up and kept as promised by her.

If you have a accent and someone says your not Kiwi, your'e English from England - coming from the fact your voice does show it, its pretty obvious. I have several England English friends and two in my current gaming circle, the did not see it offensive at all, in fact the old lady at the shop said "That is wonderful you acknowledge her background, not enough people do that much now a day".

Anyhow totally off point, but regardless that card is still on the table for why my internet service is totally bad.

There is nothing to do with my end;

Tried several Ethernet Cables, several modems, in two different locations for two and a third for the "Faulty" one that had problems with the first hop going to any external website - this has been stress tested by a friend who is a company Tech and on the Orcon service too. My modem shows 22mb down to the exchange - as does Orcon; however as mentioned the Tier 2 Tech said he is even getting bad speeds at home at the moment "There is a known issue" about it. In regards to any filters, they have been tried and tested, along with new filter, no problem there - even the modems were plugged straight into the wall without any phone connected; as requested by Orcon Troubleshooting Tier 1 support and still the problems were there.

Thanks to those staying on topic and those not being idiots about peoples posts..

Numbers ugly as in orcon's not making much money, obviously threads like these don't help. I can only imagine the pressure the management's under.

I agree that there will be obvious issues if emp's getting 50 disconnects or whatever, but from orcon's end they're saying it's 4. Which is a normal figure..

If Orcon isn't lying, then customer service is pretty shockingly bad. Considering the hoops Emp had to jump through and getting told different story everytime.

If Orcon is delaying, then there're things people want to know. Namely how soon? Will it ever be fixed? stuff like that.

If Orcon is lying, then that's obviously bad... don't need to go there.

My "fixed" was just a cynical remark, in the case that if Orcon's really lying. I like the fact that you concentrate on the difficulty of emp's possible issues, but not on the feasibility of my fix.

oh yeah, the whole UK accent thing's pretty poor taste...seriously?

Alhall: www.OrconthenewXtra.co.nz  has a kind of ring to it

That may have been true in the day.  Hell I even went to Orcon from Xtra those many years ago and it was pretty good.  But since I've moved "back" to Telecom on a Pro plan in the last two months, Orcon looks quite immature in its technology space and provision of services.

Still, as I keep saying I hope all works out for those still having issues.

Falconz: admin should delete this bs thread

It only becomes BS when people offer BS responses unrelated to the issue at hand.

Just on that particular note.  My DSL modem logs show 0 (yes, 0) disconnects in 3 days.  3 days ago I reset my router so don't know much prior to that as I don't ship the logs out to a logging box, nor do I save any locally.

Just saying.

Also when I was with "them", the disconnects were often related to PPP Authentication failure and not being able to reach the server (so to speak) ... which of course belongs to the ISP.

It was stated 6 months ago by a totally different poster for totally different reasons and has been hijacked by every mudkip and his dog who's experienced some sort of slow down.

If you have a issue thats not related to the original purpose of the thread and specific to you create a new thread

Yup, that's my first post, did you read back further and ask what he was responding to in claiming to have had ADSL2 for 32 years ?, it was in retaliation to someone questioning his age, as a pointer toward the fact that the poster seems to have a very limited view on how a business operates and what the differences are between residential grade support services and business grade support services and how there is actually a cost difference to supply said services.

Now, I realise that he probably posted that incorrectly, but throwing a random number against a product and using that to claim how old you are when it is quite obvious that ADSL hasn't been about for 32 years - if anything - shows just how young you are.

He had the opportunity to qualify that with 'sorry, I meant I have been into computer communications and paid for some level of service for 32 years' (which would still be a stretch considering that would place him at the early dawn of BBS's) but he didn't, instead he insulted me and claimed that I shouldn't attempt to think.

If that somehow makes me elitist, then so be it :-) for what its worth, thanks for someone finally answering my question.

See, and that's what gets me, you make obscure references, I ask for clarification and then you make more obscure references. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you were trying to draw a parallel with me posting in forums and not 'walking away' with me suggesting that if someone is paying for a service and not getting the service they are expecting for the money they are paying, then they should walk away ? If so then I'm sorry, but that's like comparing apples with oranges. I was really hoping that was NOT what you were trying to draw a parallel to as it would really make little sense and so asked if that's really what you meant. Feel free to expound on that more if you like.

Oh you want to attack me now Mr know-it-all?? Am I one of your "uneducated" geekzone people that you referred to?? I'll assure you, I'm not.? I have nothing pointless to say unlike your contributions to date.

Oh, I dunno, you seem to be doing a pretty good job. By the way, thanks, I didn't realise I knew everything but your faith in me is quite appreciated :-)
