I have brought a freeview UHF HD box from noel leemings last september when i moved out to paraparaumu as we did not get any TV reception, how ever the box wasn't picking up any signal.

I have now just got a guy to come check it out and he has installed a new UHF aerial with Amplifier thingy and we finally get most channels on our freeview box except channels from the TV 3 network!

I live close to coastlands and the guy that installed my aerial did say that tv 3 have a different transmitter than the other channels? and as i have trees near my house they could be a problem?

Any help would ne greatly appreciated as i am at a loss as to why i cant get the 5 or so channels on the tv3 network and have spent alot on trying to get it sorted! Frown

PLEASE HELP thanks

I live in Waikanae, and get all the channels perfectly. Without an amplifier.

Have u tried without the amplifier and running the cable straight into the back of your TV?

It looks like analogue TV3 is on Forest Heights, but for Freeview all of the channels come from the same transmitter (Ngarara). I don't know enough about the topography down there to make any suggestions... can you see Wharite from there (I'm guessing not, otherwise the Ngarara transmitter probably wouldn't exist)?

You wouldnt happen to be in a valley east of the railway line? If you dont have line of sight to Ngarara then that might be your problem.

There is a repeater site on the hill above Big Save Furniture for analogue TV, but I guess with Freeview they decided that its cheaper to use satellites for infill rather than repeater stations.

Topography is fairly flat between Coastlands and Ngarara transmitter - a few rolling dunes/hills but rather small.  FYI Ngarara transmitter is at -40.85189, 175.05213 (Lat/Long) if you want to locate it on Google Maps (on a hill in amongst a small stand of trees).
Cyril7 (sorry S!) may see this post and be able to make a comment as he has had lots of previous experience in setting up systems on the Coast.
