Hi,

I recently purchased a Magic TV 3600TD from Trade Me. Just received it yesterday and from the time I've had playing with it so far it is brilliant. I currently also have a Zinwell ZMT-640PVR.

The way it organises everything it so much nicer compared to the Zinwell and I can already tell it will be much more reliable, plus the nicer interface and design is a bonus.

Because I have around 250GB of recordings on my Zinwell I would like a way to transfer these to the Magic TV.

I have installed 2lostkiwis's patch on my device and because of this I was able to see the database files that are on the root of the hard drive. I believe the main one is tv1.db which looks to include all the information on the recordings.
I don't think the video files themselves will be an issue for transferring data, but the information with those files will be an issue as I need to get it into the database.

I have no idea about how that database file works, or even what to use to open it. Does anyone know what type of database the Magic TV uses and what I might need to use to open it?

Thanks, and hopefully someone can help as I'd really like to make the most of the Magic TV's interface for my current recordings.

The patch makes it relatively easy to transfer files from the 3600 to your pc, but I don't know of any easy way to put files onto your PVR.

I have often passed files from my 3600 to friends with the same machine by copying the transferred files to a USB stick and then passing the stick to a friend. These TS files can then be viewed on their 3600. However they cannot be copied to the HDD as far as I'm aware
.
I also have a 640PVR but don't know of any way to lift the files (digitally) from it.

Good luck with your endeavour and I'll be watching for any useful answers.

Getting the files off of the Zinwell won't be an issue, and putting them actually on the Magic TV won't be either - the only thing I need to know how to do is get the metadata from the Zinwell and take it to the Magic TV.

It looks like the Magic TV keeps a folder with a bunch of .tv files in it (which contains mostly random characters and some relevant strings, I need to find out what the random characters mean as they are different for each file), and I read somewhere on this site that the .db file will regenerate itself, so maybe this comes from the .tv files?

This means I no longer need to find a way to access the database file, but I just need to find a way to take the metadata from the Zinwell and take it to the Magic TV, both with files containing metadata in similar ways in files with random data.

I can provide a Zinwell file and a Magic TV file if anyone wants to see.
