Hey does anyone know if the LG PVR model LST 5403P 250GB HD would work here,as this model only work's on mpeg2 is there a way to make it work here?

Incompatible with NZ Freeview system.
Very expensive.
Why not go for a Panasonic Blu Ray Recorder at half the price and twice the recording capacity plus 3d Blu Ray?

I could get one very cheap if I could make it work for mpeg4,that Panasonic's not so cheap at the moment anyway last I saw it was about $700,cheers

It can't be made to work without major firmware and possibly hardware changes even if the manufacturer could/would supply the parts. Basically it's not designed for the NZ market and not worth considering for NZ. Also 250gb is minimal size for HD recording. NZ models are generally 320gb or 500gb.
Much better to get a NZ model.
The Panasonics are now around half the price they were a year or more back. You should be able to negotiate at least 15% - 20% discount on current list price.
