I've got a MatchMaster IR Extender RE03
(http://matchmaster.co.nz/CatalogueRetrieve.aspx?ProductID=3062068)
which works just fine with the MySky box/remote but there seems to be an IR frequency incompatibility with the MagicTV box/remote.
Has anyone else experienced this? Can anything be tweaked to get them talking properly?
Is there another (better) IR Extender that's known to work with the MTV3700? ... wireless would be easier but I have pre-wired Cat5/6 so could go down that road if needs must.
Any help appreciated.

I have no idea about the IR extender. However, I can offer the following options:

1. Magic TV can be set to accept authentic XBox 360 remote or MCE remote.

2. Alternatively, use the free Magic TV remote app for Android / iPhone / iPad if your Magic TV is connected to a WiFi router.

Perfect brilliance wklie! Thank you
An excellent solution ...
A simple purchase of a small low-end Ethernet-over-Power AV starter kit quickly got the MagicTV box connected to WiFi and the free MagicTV Remote app does the job, well, magically! Couldn't be easier.
Now for a few quick reviews:
TP-Link AV200 (http://pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=NETTPL0212&name=TP-Link-TL-PA211-KIT-200Mbps-Powerline-Ethernet-Ad) is a breeze to install - plug them directly into mains points, not a powerboard or even an extension cord and pair them up as per the simple instructions ... this is an ideal application for such low-end networking requirements. (The supplied network cables are REALLY short so expect to supply your own).
MagicTV Remote app - looks just like the real thing and works great on the iPhone and iPad without any config or effort.
MySky would do well to build such an app to emulate their Remote Control! But then, MagicTV would do well to build an app like MySky's that lets you set a program to record while out-and-about so brick-bats and bouquets to both.
Support @ Jaycars.co.nz - non-existant! Don't bother! My post never even went up.
Support @ DishTV.co.nz (local support for MagicTV) - waste of electrons ... utterly clueless. Likewise PixelMagicSystems.com (suppliers of MagicTV) - no response whatsoever.
Support @ MatchMaster.co.nz (suppliers of the IR Extender) - very friendly and chatty but no depth; pretty much refused to believe their IR Extender didn't work in this scenario and I was left to feel that I was dreaming. Claimed outright that the problem wasn't with the Extender despite the fact that it manifestly doesn't work.
Support @ GeekZone - Priceless!
THANKS HEAPS!! :)
