Anyone else enjoying the docos on Choice TV?

Not really a fan of their "theme" nights....if you aren't into home and gardening then Friday is a barren wasteland on Choice. But I really like the history docos and features on some of the other nights.

Loving the Docos and shows like Coast. Plus some different movies at the weekend.

I do have to admit that choiceTV is the best thing to happen to freeview since TVNZ 7. They are in the spot with us in our house where there is always something watchable on it if the other channels are a barren wasteland. We are slowly starting to commit ourselves to programs.

Go ChoiceTV!

I totally agree. The programming is a breath of fresh air.

Really enjoying "Timothy Spall - All At Sea" 3.30pm Sunday (the bloke from Auf Wiedersehen, Pet) and looking forward to "Jesse Stone" starting 8.30pm Sunday.

It's well worth signing up for the Choice TV newsletter to get a heads up of new programs.

Love Choice TV including the gardening programs. When the other channels fail, Choice TV often has something you can watch. The picture quality also seems to be better than when it first started. We just need more Freeview channels now.

Wow I had no idea Jesse Stone was starting tonight on Choice. I remember watching one episode from Vibe last year sometime but didn't manage to watch the rest. I'll be looking forward to that, thanks for the heads up! Smile

I like the Choice docos. Not interested in the food , gardening and the like. Just wish they would show the PBS Nova science and tech programs that TVNZ7 showed. Pity they don't know the difference between first run and repeat the same or next day as my TiVo records all eps of the same program when it's setup for first run only.

We are watching quite a few programmes on Choice TV. It's certainly the best change to the Freeview lineup since Prime joined the party.

There was some earlier discussion of Choice TV programmes in the thread Choice TV joining Freeview Satellite, TelstraClear, and Sky! :)

And the beauty is, when the infomercials all start to kick in on the other networks (what ever happened to 24hr real programming!) they repeat the earlier shows like coast etc.

Auction bargain hunters ftw

What I don't like, is the filling of holes when the EIT guide excites you. Turn over to watch something cool, get Mike Kings "Blokes" :(

Amen to that... I find it so frustrating I sometimes end up creating a manual recording (a la VCR recording) on my TiVo to avoid this problem. I raised it early on with the station who promised me it had been fixed. Of course it wasn't...

My problem is knowing when something good is screening - it takes time to sit down and go through each channel's listings - as discovery via channel surfing is all a bit of random luck. Thanks to the person above who gave the link to the newsletter - that'll help. (I do note they've got a few programmes on demand.)

Another handy place for upcoming notifications is their Facebook page:

http://www.facebook.com/YourChoiceTV

If you click the "Like" button on that page, you will get notifications in your news feed.  Typically they put out a summary during the early afternoon mentioning what is on that night.

Any escape from infomercials (except those noxious telly preachers) is good !

It was great, thoroughly enjoyed it. The piano theme music is good too I reckon.
