haydenmarsh: The stream is encrypted like hell. ask Apsattv about our messages on facebook. i have tried literally everything i know. (i wont post anything here to do with it as i might get banned)

Internet sauces are the way to go for this nowadays, the satellite option just doesn't work practically in our part of the world. Probably different in the likes of Europe but we're too far from our few neighbours here.

Looks like tab will stream live for free based on those FAQs posted above.

Maybe when they release their IOS and Android apps...

You can watch it using Safari on iOS and Firefox for Android.

Have you tried on iOS and if so does it work well? (or anyone else for that matter)

I have an elderly neighbour who is either going to purchase a Macbook Air or an iPad Air, connected/mirrored to the TV to watch Trackside.

While I think a Macbook Air would do a better job 'dedicated', I think she should purchase the iPad as it does a whole lot more (being a user that doesn't use a computer)

She doesn't want SKY.

Can the iPad stream the video and mirror/Apple TV to the TV at the same time, or would it better better plugged in directly via HDMI and stream via wireless?

Or someone else have a better suggestion?

Matt

Good choice with the Macbook Air for the elderly neighbour. it would be easier in my opinion to use HDMI into the TV with the stream running on the Macbook Air. then he/she could also use it as a DVD/CD player via HDMI also.

It's natively supported on iOS. but on Android you can install this Adobe Flash Player 11.1.115.47 APK and use Firefox and it seems to work well on a Samsung Galaxy S4.

Umm no - no optical drive on the air remember! or the new pro for that matter.

What about the iPad? Will the stream (if by app) be different to the Macbook air (web)?

I just think for a device like email, casual browsing etc that the iPad would be better...

I am 99% sure that from the tab.co.nz website you can watch the stream on your iPad using safari. i can double check later on if wanted.

Point remains, you need to have a TAB account and to have credit in it to be able to see it.

Essentially though, who else would be interested in a racing channel?

No, I fully meant to spell sauces instead of sources, as it made me smile ;-)

I hope that the TAB's departure from Freeview means we get a great channel to replace it. Perhaps the TAB are prepared to offer odds on this happening?

Perhaps tdgeek meant to say "Internet saucers", those mysterious things that fly around the internet seen by only a select few.
