I've had a problem the last week where when I've switched on my receiver (Hills HSM075) I get excellent signal strength and quality, and perfect picture and sound, for anywhere between five seconds and five minutes then nothing. I then have to wait at least five or six hours before I get any signal strength again. At which point it all works again for anywhere between five seconds and five minutes. Thinking it may be the receiver (as it was already on it's second power supply) I bought a new one (Dish S7070R), but have the exactly the same issue.

So I'm now guessing it may be the LNB, though I am at at a loss as to why it can power up fine for a few minutes but then can't be powered up for hours even for a few seconds. Anyone else had this problem? I guess a new LNB is the way to? Pretty sure the current one is the 10750 dual throat type on a standard Sky dish (Sky put a new one on a three years ago - obviously no longer a subscriber). Could anyone give a recommendation for an LNB to replace it? Many thanks. Any help much appreciated.

One possibility might be an LNB physically deteriorating over time and getting rain water in it.
