fatjulio: Do you think 3.22 might get the 2lostkiwis support? :)

He would want to wait some time to see if the firmware does do what it is supposed to do.
If the firmware is indeed stable, I think it will be the last one issued.

Then, it would be nice to have 2lostkiwis do his 'Magic' (pun intended). lol

wklie: MTV3600TD Firmware 3.22beta

Firmware date: 2015-7-8
http://www.magictv.com/nz/downloads/mtv3600_3_22NZbeta.zip

Please see if the reboot problem occurs with this firmware.  It is not expected to slow down and should not cause the HDD to spin during standby.

Just updated mine to this.

butlerboy: The fast forward also seems to be a bit smoother which is very welcome.

Agree that this will be a welcome improvement too.

Will see how things go over the next few days - fingers crossed!

Several different people reported several different problems (and some no problems) with various versions of Magic software.  We need several different people to install this software (and disable any external time-clocks, etc.) to make sure it does what is expected before Ian starts fettling it.

Righto... I will  remove mine from the external timer, etc, tomorrow and load on the new firmware.
I will report any problems.

Bear in mind, it is my secondary PVR & does not get used on a daily basis, so if it faults, it may take a while before I notice them.

I've installed 3.22 and so far all good.  Previously I couldn't install anything beyond 3.20 (the install would appear to complete ok but when the Magic TV rebooted it wouldn't show anything other than the logo).

I installed this update on last Thursday and have had a few new issues with it.

Sunday night had scheduled recordings on tv1 and tv3 at the same time. Tv3 recordings were scheduled for tv3+1 even though there was not a conflict - but this could have been an EPG issue. Came home towards the end of the recordings, turned on the tv, switched to HDMI input and the unit rebooted. Restarted recording from where it left off.

Last night had recordings on tv3 and Choice at the same time, later tv1 and another programme on Choice. Looked at the unit towards the end of what should have been the 2nd lot of shows being recorded and found the unit was totally unresponsive. It displayed Choice tv on the fluero display, but wouldn't change channels, and no picture or sound on the tv via HDMI. Had to power off and back on again. None of the recordings were retained.

On the plus side, the fast forward did seem better, but I have also fast forwarded, rewound to get the right point, pressed play and it would jump forward to where I started rewinding from. i.e. FF through ads but go too far, rewind say 30 secs - minute, press play again and it would jump to the point where I started rewinding. Happened several times.

Think I might have to go back to v3.21.

Another thing about v3.21 was the disk check utility - it would always fail almost immediately with error -127. Going back to v3.18 and performing the same check performed as normal. Haven't tried it on v3.22 beta yet.

That's a shame you've been having issues. Since I installed the latest firmware it's performed faultlessly, no reboots, all recordings successful and no slowdown.

Disk check function was broken in 3.21 and 6.18 beta and 6.18 beta2.  Disk check function should work in 3.18, 3.20, and 3.22 beta.

I confirm that the disk check does work correctly in 3.22 beta

If I run the disk check, all my recordings remain untouched, is that correct?

They WILL be touched.  In some cases, some recorded programmes that fail inconsistency checks could be deleted.

What's the difference between 3.22 and 3.23?  I've been running 3.22 for a week without any problems.

3.23 is more aggressive in its fix for reboot, see if it fixes the instability in cb1's usage pattern.

Have just installed v3.23 so will see how it goes.

Also noticed that under v3.22, it did reboot at some stage between last night and this evening with no scheduled recordings or manual usage. (I can tell because I have the main program list set to series and it had returned to the default view)
