Those who only just have sluggish boxes should possibly check the batteries in their remote.  It's such a small thing but potentially could make a huge difference to the experience.

 

We've just bought a second hand T1050 for the in-laws via TradeMe which I've been evaluating before I install it for them.  They've recently canceled Sky and have opted for the Freeview/Netflix combo.  I found the box to be pretty bad when I first got it going.  Many remote buttons were pretty dicey and some just didn't get a response.  Ran a meter across the supplied batteries which were shot, replaced with fresh ones and most of the dicey buttons came back to life and appeared to make the box much more perkier.

 

As the labels on a few buttons had worn off we were probably going to get a new remote for it so figured I had nothing to loose so last night prised the remote open, doused the circuit board in CO cleaner and it's now working 100% (if you squint to read what some of the buttons are).

 

Sure that particular box isn't a rocket ship and the hardware is made to a price but from what I saw their well spec'd MySky box wasn't all that responsive after Sky's new firmware update either.

 

 

i don't even use the stock remote but same issue generally speaking.   recordings locking up  is my only burning issue ,  a well known one

Quick question about streaming via Plex Media Server. Does anyone know if the "grunt work" is done on the T2200 itself? I currently use a Roku 3 but the actual decoding is done on my laptop which is a bit old and can't handle anything over about 1.5GB.

Bit of a weird one recently,  TWO episodes of Black list recorded onto the same file one week apart,  i watch everything weeks behind in the high season so it allowed this rather awkward one to occur , still quite an interesting one, maybe a Freeview tagging issue ?   before you ask i deleted it and watched the last 5 mins on demand as it was also cut off despite 5min after episode timer in effect so this doesnt happen .  Hard work but i got there in the end

Actually I've noticed this (sort of thing) a few times. I've had the same episode of Limitless (Prime) record about three times now from it being repeated on different days. I've also noticed that Posh Pawn (TV One) the last two weeks has recorded both at the regular time and at the +1 time. I've also had a few things miss the end but I blame that on the broadcaster, I must get around to extending the timer a little. TVNZ can be particularly bad at keeping to time. 

 

I do have good news though, that a new T2200 was sent out by DishTV and after about 2 weeks has been pretty good, just the odd hiccup\burp but nothing like the 10 mins of unwatchable carry on that I was getting on the original one. I've sent the original back to DishTV today so hopefully they can track the problem down to faulty componentry (bad memory module perhaps?). 

 

So for me (since I use a Harmony remote) my last bug bear appears to be the scheduling hassles where you end up having to delete everything and setting it again in a particular order, just to get it all working at the times you want.

Has to rescan my t2200 this afternoon as it has lost TV1 TV2 and their respective +1 channels. Was working fine on another tv in the house.

no such issue in my case fyi ,  i sure hope a new box doesn't come out in the next year or so and divert the focus , We havent had a positive firmware update for quite some time it seems. 

 

im saving at least a fiver a month from this tidy little beast and its wonderful power saving features (compared to 30w constantly for 3600TD), i think it may be a self funding purchase based on power savings alone over its lifetime .

My box just updated to s/w version 1.25. cant find any info on Dishtv website on what the improvements are.

@joshhill96 do you think you could ask the developers or who ever to update the website to reflect the new version and create a change log somewhere for it?

I'm going to talk to a few people tomorrow about this, I would love to do the website handling however I do not have the authority to do so, I will do, we have a system which the Devalopers will mention new software, I'll get the log book updated for you to read.

Can you also sort out why my box is automatically updating to new firmware when i have scheduled updates turned off?

 

are you even passing the issues people are having, on to the developers? ive had the unit for 4 months now and have mentioned this on many ocasions
The double button press is still there
With timeshift on, when entering the library or any form of media from the media manager, then exiting you are taken back to the beginning of the time shift, not back to the current live tv

 

There has been some improvements, the unit overall seems a little more responsive

Yes, I have been passing this on, and there is a system which I look into how the development is coming along, I cannot overrule what needs to be done to the firmware, I pass information along then it gets reviewed and sent to the software team. I recall answering the question about the auto update - however I asked this to the team and updates will need to keep coming through automatically, I will send a note to the guys about sorting the settings about this.

 

We prioritised responsiveness in these updates to improve end user operation.

so whats the point in having a menu for manual/scheduled update if it comes through automatically? you really shouldnt force updates on people until they have been tested throughly, or you will end up with issues like 1.24 had, where you thought you had fixed something that didn't appear to be broken but you broke other stuff.

 

i understand you want boxes that have sat on the shelf for a while to get newer firmware but surely you can program in a first boot update option then after that its up to the user.

 

what about a change log? what about updating the website? it still has the 1.22 firmware on the product page and thats almost 3 months out of date. the downloads page is also super out of date.
