KiwiTT: Looks like I may have to get this to replace my TiVo. How does the EPG compare to the TiVo one. I tried to watch the video but is has been marked 'private' http://www.dishtv.co.nz/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=50

I'm in the same boat plus my parents also have two TiVo's that will be needing replacement later in the year.

If Dish TV were sneaky it'd be great if they had a 'swap out offer' like our Australian cousins in the same situation have.  Over there people can purchase a Fetch TV set top box (not available in NZ) to the captive market of TiVo users through Harvey Norman with $100 off the RRP (AU$399).

I just upgraded to fibre, so disconnected my wired connection to the modem, and went to menu - network. Only when I went to wireless it said my wifi dongle could not be found, and needs connecting. Now that is a new one. Anyone got any ideas. Nothing seems to be in the manual.

The Warehouse is doing a special on the T2200 until the 14th of March 2017 at $249. That's a pretty keen price and only $5.99 delivery if you order on line.

it does series record and sometimes picks up a fresh series based on previous series records but that is more about how the stations tag their shows than a lack of box ability !

I'm suspicious - what is around the corner?

The T2200 has been around awhile now - bugs and all.

You just have to draw a line in the sand and do it.  You can sit around waiting for the next thing just around the corner then realise that waiting started three years ago and you're no further.  No matter when you buy it, a better one will always be released the following week/month ;-)

Netflix and LightBox on Spark?

I currently use AppleTV for Netflix, mobile cast for LightBox, which does not allow all Lightbox shows to view; DishTV T2200 for TVNZ Ondemand, TV3 and Maori and recording any shows which I don't think will go to OnDemand.

I chose the T2200 because I needed twin tuners to work across the muxes that recording requires.

Generally I am happy, my 2012 Samsung 55" TV was good for the first 2 years at the beginning of OnDemand. My first TV that kept getting better the longer I had it. Sadly Samsung had to have a reason to upsell me.

When I chose the DishTV option, I could see they could add apps as they were want to do.  That was a better value proposition to upgrade a $350 settop box than a $2500 TV every 2 years.

I'm not sure that DishTV have enough swing to get Netflix or LightBox access.  If they were able to, then I could drop my Netflix connection on AppleTV and connect to the new Spark offering.

I doubt DishTV can swing LightBox, since that is a Spark only provider.

There is a market for one box that serves all options here in NZ, I fear though the market is too small for DishTV to get entry into these.

Bernard

i was meaning netflix and lightbox are the future development , dont expect new pvrs necessarily , i mean we no longer have dvr , vcr  . Streaming is the future development and you have till the 13th or so to work out if you want a T2200 .  i was considering buying a second at that price but its now only 50% of my viewing and diminishing so its a tough one, but only because i already own one, if i didnt i would have already purchased your one from your local store hehe.

I have recently got one of these boxes to replace my TiVo. I also have a magictv but thought I'd try something new.

I like it so far. I have turned auto time shift on. Initially I was getting it on both tuners so two channels were being automatically recorded at the same time.

Now it seems to be only the one I'm on. I'd like to be able to flick between two without restarting time shift each time.

Probably something obvious, but why has it stopped workin?

Thanks!

Also three of us purchased these. There seems to be a protective film on the case which you remove. Two took this off and it looks great and glossy. Mine looks a sticky mess! :-(. Where the film has been lifted it looks scratched and has left sticky residue.

I have emailed them, but wondering if anyone else has this issue. I am reluctant to try and clean it due to the holes and grill type on the top cover. Thr plastic seems to sticky as it also kept breaking off not peeling as it should....

The lines are from the film, not scratches.

Jase2985:

the EPG is the standard freeview one you get on any freeview tv. i find it slow.

Bugger. I was sure there were screenies on here but I gave up looking as thread is long. I was sure it was new and hip looking, but its the age old Panny style Freeview UI?
