Can sometimes take a while for your button presses to turn into action, but it gets there.

It asked me to login again today, which will be a pain if it is a regular occurrence

The single line version of the guide pops up every time the TV channel is changed. Is there a way to turn this off?

Also the vertical scrolling (up/down remote keys) on the single line guide works in the opposite direction to the full guide. In the full guide the down arrow key moves you down the list (increasing the channel number) as expected. In the one line version the down arrow key decreases the channel number - moving you up the channel list!

Hmmmmm......I'm hesitant to buy one.

3 years since release, 98 pages in this thread alone.

And seem really cheap at TheWarehouse for $249, when list price is $449 most places, and TheWarehouse is not even classing it as a special.

Is something else coming?

Yes, something else is coming is the short answer.  As per Freeview NZ's official press release, Dish TV will be releasing a "premium recorder" box to market "Q1 2018" which looks promising given NZ is starved of realistic alternatives other than from Panasonic.  I've read (I think earlier in this thread) Dish TV saying there has been a delay in production.  I guess The Warehouse are clearing stock in anticipation of the new unit.

Nope, I forced the update on Saturday and is actually more slick (both performance and visual appeal) than it was.  I should admit I barely used the apps previously as I could never get the audio to work on any of the on demand apps via HDMI directly into my multichannel receiver.  The overhaul appears to be quicker to load any content I've tried and without changing anything the audio now just works.

Generally, is the outputted audio of on demand only supposed to be two channel stereo or is it meant to be 5.1?  I've tried a couple of programmes (NCIS LA being one) which broadcasts as 5.1 but on demand is only 2.0.

The latest release (v1.42) has broken the HDMI Dolby Digital output (AC3). It auto-updated over the weekend.

I reported this bug after testing a beta version (v1.41_01) on 13 May 2018, on this very forum!

Quote:

"I have tested this beta version and it does not work as intended. PCM stereo is output regardless of the audio setting. Even when set to AC3, the HDMI audio output is PCM stereo not Dolby digital (on the broadcast channels that support it)."

If there is somewhere else that bugs like this should be reported please let me know. In the meantime, I will be reverting to the previous release and turning off auto-updates until this is fixed.

I am still available for beta testing if needed!

For what it's worth I have the same setup with my unit outputting audio via HDMI directly to my Sony receiver.  The receiver shows as receiving Dolby Digital on (from memory as I'm not in front of it) TV1, 2, Three, Three Life and Duke.

One really annoying trap I've found is if something is reset each channel defaults to PCM stereo even when 5.1 is available.  I found you have to push the Audio button on the unit's remote to select the AC3 audio track for each compatible channel.  Guess you've already tried that hence the comment about 'regardless of the audio setting' however that's been my experience.

Check your firmware version. It was working in the previous release (v1.40) but seems to have stopped working in the latest release (v1.42)

I'm definitely running v1.42, I physically watched it install after I had to power cycle the unit.

Does audio work with the on demand apps?

That was the issue I had on the old firmware with Dolby Digital.

Same as you, I couldn't get any audio to play with any of the on demand apps under the old firmware.  The new on demand platform/firmware now plays audio perfectly however the receiver only seems to register it as PCM 2.0 but is a huge step up from no audio.

Comparing to my old TiVo. I've always found the T2200 horribly slow (even with the old Freeview ondemand firmware)

Does anyone have issues with CEC not working?

As stated earlier, the new firmware/on demand platform seems to perform a little better than it was for me.  It is a fairly underpowered, made to a budget box from what I can tell but is usable.  I had a TiVo as well so an unfair comparison given their price points were so vastly different (think Mercedes vs Mazda).  Changing the factory remote the T2200 ships with makes a huge difference in performance as well because that remote has a really narrow range transmitter which gives the feel of being sluggish when spooling video or navigating.

Sorry not sure what you mean by the CEC not working?  I understand CEC being if you have the box connected via HDMI you potentially could use the TV remote to control the box?  I've sort of gone the opposite way and bought DishTV's learnable remote (https://www.dishtv.co.nz/index.php?route=product/product&path=73&product_id=161) and programmed the TV's basic power and volume controls into it.  The TV (using CEC via HDMI)  controls the receiver so powers that up and adjusts volume all from the one DishTV remote.
