I don't know - have not watched live TV in years but at-least you now get to watch them in HD.

I prefer to grab them online, but the more shows that four loses for the others the better, since four are basically as bad as prime at degrading things to stereo and SD because they are too lazy to show them as the creators intended.

I wonder if they will temporarily move to TV2 then move onto the new TVNZ Male skewed channel launching later this year?

My question is, Why has Mediaworks not upgraded FOUR to HD? Oh wait, Newshub.

lazy?  Four have lost these FOX shows as Mediaworks cant/wont justify the cost of renewing the agreement.  If they cant afford to purchase the content then how can they justify taking a 4-5% audience share (and thats the VIEWING audience) channel and broadcast it in HD?

Its not laziness.  Its economics.

EDIT:  HD versions of the Simpsons are played on TV3 and will continue to play on TV3.  How much of the back catalogue that TVNZ acquired for seasons 1-26 hasnt been revealed.

Yes lazy. To push content out in SD shows no commitment to offering a watchable service. SD might have been ok 15 years ago when there were still CRTs available. Tollerable 10 years ago, but when freeview HD launched, with HD in the name IMO it became unacceptable to be SD in an HD world.

So you'll put all broadcasters in the "lazy" camp.  Even TVNZ and Mediaworks have the "Selected content broadcast in High Definition (HD) on Freeview|HD® (via UHF aerial)" monikers for their mainstay channels.  For the other 22 channels on FreeviewHD, how do you stand?  Everyone is unacceptable.  Should be called FreeviewDT not FreeviewHD?  False advertising, huh?

Yes, I would. Its not like 1080 is a hugely new thing that they shouldnt be able to handle. Every cellphone records in it, PCs game in it, twitch streamers stream in it, yet for some reason its all too much for these large broadcasters to handle.

So it must be criminal that their streaming services are only in SD.  It cant be a capacity issue.  It must be a cost issue, right?

That the incremental advertising revenue from a HD streamed show doesnt meet the increased cost from delivering the content.   Not too much for any broadcaster to handle, just not economic enough for them to bother.  Still not lazy, still economics.

I'm picking that Simpsons will be TV2 and Family Guy will be on the man channel.

I remember when FOUR launched, some of the shows from TV3 moved over to fit into the channel, though that came with a SD cost from  HD.
