looks like the eyetv update to 3.0.1 allows mac users to view the 720P streams along with the audio, still no dice with the interlaced ones,

I guess the work they are doing on adding codecs for  h.264 AVC DVT reception for norway are beinging to show up
, or maybe it is the perian 1.1 update?

Anyone have any idea what the story will be regarding EPG? From what I know it will be MHEG5 - what, if any, software currently supports this?

As confirmed on Freeview's website the 7/8 day epg will be MHEG-5. EIT data will only contain now/next information.

Might just be down to the aerial and cables. Are you on rabbit ears or a roof top aerial?

getting 75-80% signal with my little midget UHF aerial on the Kordia mux. Don't think it's that.

Hi all, long time reader first time poster...

I have been messing around trying to receieve DTT using an Avermedia Volar USB 2.0 device and linux. Unfortunately the house I'm living in does not have line of sight to either of Waitarua or Pine Hill, and I can't get a picture. I'm not sure if the problem is the lack of signal, the hardware, or codec issues.

Using Kaffeine on Kubuntu 7.10, I can get a lock and audio on TVONE and TV2, and signal strength of 60%. Assuming 60% is a meaningful, what have others found to be the minimum required signal?

Also, does anyone know if DTT is being broadcast from the SkyTower or Remuera? I have LOS to them, or for that matter, anywhere else in Auckland apart from Waitarua and Pine Hill?

Cheers,
Roger

Yes they are being broadcast as infill from Remuera and Sky-Tower.  Not sure whether they are active yet as I haven't tried them myself.

See this for frequencies:

Ah nice, cheers. I'll swing the aerial around tonight and see if I can get a decent signal from there.

In the Dominion post article referenced above there is the statement "All of the transmitters are turned on now for testing."
So hopefully that is correct... :-)

Does anybody know if AC3 audio will be transmitted 24/7 along with AAC or whether this will simply be broadcast for shows that are going to feature 5.1 audio?

How does MythTV and MediaPortal handle the AC3 channels - give you the option to switch between AAC/AC3 for a channel that transmits both or does it represent both as individual channels?

Mediaprotal has an option to prefer AC3. AAC is well underway.

Yay! I have all 14 channels running here in Pukekohe with my brand new HVR-900 and DVBViewer. Am I being a dummy in not being able to find signal strength/quality figures?

Thanks.
