Hey guys,

 

I'm having the same issues on my 550GZ random black screens. Sound still works. happens a few times every minute. Changed all my cables, still happening. I sent the recorder back to Noel Leeming who sent it to a service agent. They are charging me a service fee as they say there is nothing wrong with it. 

 

Please note I have a new aerial setup with full signal strength, professionally installed.

I called Panasonic customer care. They were really helpful and have asked me to send the device direct to them for testing.

I get this very very rarely. Once when I messed up and had on programme trying to record multiple times, caused quite a fit from the machine. Normally I go for days and days with out it then it will happen for a couple of times over a short period.

 

I get the feeling it has something to do with the units swapping tuners.

Just after an update from those who have this issue?

My 550GZ has gone to another service agent for a second opinion.

I've just heard black from Noel Leeming. My 550GZ was sent to a second service agent by Panasonic. This service agent has written off the appliance. I'm waiting on further info in regards to a product replacement or refund. The product was purchased in March this year.

I am having same issues .  Have had the 260 about 3 weeks and only noticed it over the last week.

 

For me this is a deal breaker.  those that have contacted panasonic what is their response?

 

I am wondering if i should return it and look at the dishtv option which is the only other brand I know of in this market - thoughts?

I had the person who is dealing with this issue ring me on Friday. They are still working on the issue.

 

He believes the issue is still a signal issue.

 

He is also going to request they make some code so they can diagnose the fault better.

 

Yeah I would not hold your breath that there is going to be any resolution on this.

After my box went to a second service agent it was inspected and written off. I got store credit from Noel Leeming for the purchased value. I personally wouldn't buy another Panasonic freeview device.

Tempted to take the unit it back, but not really a lot of better options.

 

My unit is only a month or 2 old now

We all turned freeview plus OFF in menus and it solves the issue.

 

We all seem to agree that Panasonic basically have a monopoly and are treating us very badly due to lack of competition in this market place.

 

So in summary.....either

 

-Turn Freeview Plus off and lose some functionality, or

 

-Take the unit back for a refund and go back to Sky

If you haven't already contacted Panasonic technical support, please do so. The more people that report this the better the chance for nailing a fix.

 

If you still want to return the unit afterward they will work with you on that.

 

Turning off Freeview Plus kind of defeats the whole purpose for me, so I'm still gathering data to send to Panasonic.

 

 

 

Just looking back through my logs, it seems to happen most between 6pm and 9.30pm. Peak viewing time I guess, but I have also run some tests around midday and have never seen it then.

 

Is that others experience? Anyone care to mention what times the fault is occurring most often for you?

I have talked to Panasonic.

 

I dont want to return the unit as there is nothing better out there sadly.

Have been following this thread for a while as I have a 550GZ but can't say I'd noticed this issue as I largely only watch recorded content so as to ad skip....

 

HOWEVER, came in while my wife was watching live TV last night. Same black screen problems everyone has been describing in this thread. Really bad actually, must have happened a couple dozen times in 10 minutes.

 

Not really too much of a problem for me though. Will continue to watch only recorded stuff through this unit and stick to live viewing through the TV's inbuilt tuner.
