Could I/we have accidentally mapped the 2 channels together? The channel that it occurs on seems to change (it used to be mostly TV3, now seems Prime & C4). I don't find it too much of a bother. I try to remember to look through my pending recordings every couple of days for duplicates.

I've just used MediaPortal to randomly pick a show on Prime that shows up twice.  At 9:40pm is something called Teen Tamer.  Searching for this weekly show in the XML file using WordPad, I found this same entry 3 times...

 <programme start="20090630214000 +1200" stop="20090630224000 +1200" channel="prime.sky.co.nz">
    <title lang="eng">Teen Tamer</title>
    <desc>15-year-old Gemma Johnson's sexual promiscuity and abusive behaviour is pushing her family to the edge. Desperate to salvage their family life, the Johnsons call in teen behaviour expert Lorrine Marer.</desc>
    <category>tvshow</category>
    <category>Reality</category>
    <rating system="SKY-NZ">
      <value>M</value>
    </rating>
  </programme>

The 3 entries are not in a row, just duplicated further down the file.  It appears to be every 2 or 3 shows are duplicated.

I use the following command-line to download the file concerned.
freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.exe" -mediaportalTVServer -all

Yeah, it seems from my analysis of the xml file that the entries are duplicated further down in the file sometimes - resulting in the duplicate entries in MP.

( I also use:  freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.exe -mediaportalTVServer -all )

MentalInc: is it possible for you to scan the xml for duplicate/multiple entries and delete the duplicates (as apart of the freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.exe?)

Cheers
Russ

This is not the ideal solution as the xml source should be getting fixed not me trying to make some hack to make it work.

It will be slow and complicated process as need to check each entry is not the same as every other entry...

Who is responsible for the XML data?

Looks like there are a few of different Prime PIDS in the EIT. They should be filtered now.

It was actually done a few of days ago, I just forgot to mention it.

By the way, all the freeview data including CTV8 is available on the same site in the freeview-web.xml.gz file if it's easier.

thanks hads, will add that as the third possible source!

much easier alright needed to add one foreach loop, setting up the other source has needed some major rewriting.

since its 3/4 done ill keep making the changes so there is an alternative.

edit: The coding is now done, you can now select the following Freeview/Sky EPGs:
http://epg.pvr.geek.nz/epg/listings-freeview.xml.gz (default)
http://epg.pvr.geek.nz/epg/listings-all.xml.gz  -all
http://epg.pvr.geek.nz/epg/freeview-web.xml.gz  -freeviewWebXML (NEW) includes CTV8

and your own custom feed from http://xmltv.co.nz/ using -xml "downloadPathProvided"
this currently only works without selecting archive, I will work on enabling the archive function tomorrow!

Sorry it took so long to do, I thought it was going to be a more major task than it turned out to be.

Hopefully will have new version out tomorrow - will depend on getting the archive function working with http://xmltv.co.nz/.

Version 2.0 has arrived!

Please report any bugs you are having etc so I can fix them up. I won't be able to fix them until the weekend though, busy week ahead. If you have issues you can still access the old version at http://mentalindustries.orconhosting.net.nz/freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.zip I will keep this version up for a while (probably until the next release).

Please make sure you replace/update your batch files to the new filename freeviewNZ-EPG.exe NOT freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.exe

  • With version 2.0, I have dropped the GBPVR from the file name it is now called freeviewNZ-EPG.exe which better reflects the programs capabilites.

  • Added support for additional epg files. -freeviewWebXML will download an EPG file that contains CTV8. A further option -xml "urlForEPG" can download a custom epg made at http://xmltv.co.nz, simply select the channels you wish to have an EPG for and replace "urlForEPG" with the url generated. Refer to the included batch files for details.

  •   Fixed a user error bug in the -task command. Now checks that the batch files exists.

Just tried this with version 1.1.0 alpha of mediaportal, and found the -task fails,

C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server>freeviewNZ-EPG.exe -task 07:00:00 mediaportalTvServer.bat
Checking for newer version
You already have the latest version

Finding install paths
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at freeviewNZ_EPG.Program.findInstallPaths()
EPG file to download: http://epg.pvr.geek.nz/epg/listings-freeview.xml.gz
The batch file selected does not exist.
Please check the batch file exists in the same folder as this program and try again.

whats the findInstallPaths looking for, maybe its changed in 1.1.0 alpha?

rosswakelin glad to see you signed up to geekzone!

I will need to test this method when i get home, I didn't test the -task option in depth (if you look on earlier pages of this thread i think there is mention of where it is looking)

1.1.0 alpha may have changed how this works, I will look into this in detail on the weekend.

(may i suggest trying to use the older version to setup the task (http://mentalindustries.orconhosting.net.nz/freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.zip) if this fails it is likely to be a mediaportal change which I will need to configure in my app!
