Thanks again Philip this was a great script.

A quick trap for new players that are testing - is the restriction on number of times you can download.  When testing, I thought it was not working correctly & ran a few of times as was not producing file in location, soon to have the GZ file with text content rather than the archive (at least I had the XML file in the trash).
Was executed on two macs with EyeTV.

YOUR IP ADDRESS (125.xxx.xxx.xxx) HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY BLOCKED.The
limits for this file are;
*4 times in any 24 hours.
*12 times in any 7 days.

You have accessed this file;

*4 times in the last 7 days.

You have been blocked access to this file;
*2 times in the last 24 hours.
*2 times in the last 7 days.

Limits are fine and have good reason, just good to know what they are.

If you set your iCal event or cron job to run just twice a week, will not have an issue with typical usage

I'm running the script and the file has been downloaded, but I'm not seeing "xmltv" as an option in the EPG selector list. Any ideas?

Hi,

It's a pulldown - Select xmltv and you should be away!

Go slowly with me: Run the script, open EyeTV Preferences, Guide Page, Then select xmltv in the "service" drop down right?

Yeah there's no "xmltv" in the service drop down. Am I looking in the right place?

Select Channels under the library on left.
Then for each channel look at the column for EPG.  Options are DVB, Unknown or xmltv
Select XMLTV.  It may then ask you to associate the item in the XMLTV listing to the channel.

Thank Philip, he kindly reminded me the same.    I recall I had the same aha moment when using early EyeTV version and ICETV EPG in Aus before Elgato added ICETV as an option in 2.x

This is a fantastic script... kind of the missing link to make eyetv work as it is suppose to.
Now a probably stupid question but do you need to have Microsoft Excel installed in order for the script to work?
Thanks

No excel required, just double click on the script file. Then when EyeTV opens, follow the instructions above on manually selecting xmltv as the EPG for each channel.
Also have ability to have repeating weekly event in iCal, and then as the alarm action, choose Run Script.

Hi everyone,

It's possible that I'm missing something important here, but I don't think so.

I've just bought the eyetv 250 Plus and downloaded the latest version from elgato, 3.0.2. But when I scan channels it finds 5 blank ones only. So I tried the exaustive scan and nothing different. The antenna I'm using successfully gets freeview with an external box.

Hi All

I can't seem to make the xmltv script work this week. Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks MattD. I had used an extension cable to run from the lounge to my iMac. The cable must be faulty because I tried another one and it great. Thanks anyway.

OK, works great! So I just have to create a repeating event in iCal and add the file I just downloaded for xmltv? That's it?

On my iMac Core 2 Duo 2.16 ghz with 2gb RAM all channels run very smoothly. But on my Macbook Core Duo 1.83 with 2gb RAm playback is a bit jittery, especially on TV3. is this because of the graphic card in the Macbook or because of the CPU. I want to run this on a Mac Mini, am I going to experience the same jittery picture if I get a Core 2 Duo Mini?
