Re DVB-T in the "TV Pack". As I understand it some of the discusion on the Green Button seems to indicate replacing the MSDTVVDEC.DLL file after installing the TV pack, with the file from the beta, will allow the beta level of h.264 to continue to work (as flaky as that was). Haven't had a chance to try it at all so don't know if it really works but if you really want HD now it may be worth a go.

This is an interesting piece from Ed Bott:

He [Microsoft’s Ben Reed, Product Marketing Manager for Windows Media Center] also confirmed that the update “does not include native support for subscription-based satellite tuners or the H.264 video standard.” The explanation is diplomatic, to say the least: “We test many features in beta releases, and optimize our feature set in the final code for the best user experience.”

I’m willing to cut Microsoft a lot of slack in this case, although others in the Media Center community aren’t so sanguine. Chris Lanier calls Fiji a “mess” and predicts it will “go down in history as one of the worst coordinated projects to come out of Microsoft in a long time.”

Anybody here speak Danish?

There was a link from thegreenbutton to this thread here on a Danish site which appears to talk about replacing the registry settings for the codec with the Cyberlink H.264 one.

Installed fiji last night without fresh install found no channels, freshly installed reinstalled fiji, found all freeview channels
but now watching tv for 10 min computer crashes and reboots completly could this be the driver, codec or fiji just being unstable, has any one has had this problem?

Fiji isn't yet an official product so there are no guides to follow.

Hi. I havent tried the TV pack yet as I heard it resets all of your settings but last night downloaded the Moonplayer from here http://www.ii-view.com/en/home2.html. This is a player that allows you to tune in your Freeview channels and allows you to record them etc.
So.... until Microsoft decide to come to the party and update Vista Media Center properly I'm going to use this I think.
You can tell it to record the channels to a location of your choice and then get Vista Media Center to watch that folder.
I am planning to try and write an add in to make this a little more integrated maybe like the PowerDVD add in which opens up PowerDVD for Blu-Ray playback.

Anyone figure the right lnb settings with the tv pack?

Selecting region of NZ and a dual feed rather than single or universal.

Pretty sure I have 10750 sky lnb.  Putting in
Low 10750
High 10750
"Transition Frequency" of 22500

The naming of Transition Frequency has me thrown a bit as does the fact that it shows a signal meter which doesn't seem to do much.

On scan I'm getting just 4 channels... all sky stuff I figure, CI, playboy?, CNBC, Fashion TV ...

Going to keep messing with it later tonight once I can get the wife away from the tv :)

Read back to page 7 and rustygonad's post ... that should fix it (once said wife gets away from olympics.

Mines mine with codecs (using version 4.7.2 vista codec pack).

I did do a fresh install, install drivers, up to SP1 + important and recommended, install tv pack + playready 1.0 + the couple of hotfix KB updates (Windows6.0-KB950754-x86 and  Windows6.0-KB951685-x86).  Then ran media center setup, tuned channels, etc.  Then put codecs on...

Bit of a trick to get shared sky and freeview channels to show up as the one channel and to make sure freeview is the primary, but once I figured that and previously the tuning of D1 out all has been grand.

Sorry to annoy you guys here but are you saying that you have the TV Pack receiving Freeview via Satellite? I gather you dont have it tuning your Freeview via UHF aerial?

thanks
