Hi,

Just got *Fiji* updated and did a DV-T scan. (Using an HVR-3000). Scanned 97 channels. Had to sort through to find correct freeview channels. EPG works great. My problem is I cant edit the channels to correct numerical order. Ie: TV1 - slot 1, TV2 - slot 2.  ETC. Any suggestions on how to do this?

If I want to scan DV-S do you just use satelie as your option? For some reason, it asks for a set top box and im not using one and then i cant scan DV-S

Does anyone know if you will be able to use DV-S to pick up more than 2 satellite signals using a dual LND that has discque switching?

thanks

Hmmm, can't remember (I'm at work) how to do it but it is possible.  I remember clicking edit on each channel in the TV setup & then being able to assign it to a channel number.

Be warned that that was the last thing I did before I got a video error which won't go away.  Probably not related

Wazza15 , Did you do a clean install of vista .Seems like your DVB-T is picking up DVB-S channels.
97 channels on DVB-T seems high. Maybe the DVB-S as DVB-T reg hack is in your registry.

Hi,

I too would love a ticket to fiji.  I have looked in all the ticket offices, like GreenButton travel center, and searched the Ants of Torr but they don't appear be on sale.

Can someone give me a heads up on a search word/place to get a ticket

Badly want HDTV in MCE

thegreenbutton thread gives you all the information you need.

The product is certainly nowhere near stable enough to use for day to day use at this stage.

WOT HE SAID...

The beta which is available isn't stable for NZ DVB-T use.  There are a number of issues which appear to be linked to the Cyberlink decoder, which causes the MCE eshell engine to frequently crash while changing channels.  It will also drop the decoder entirely at times forcing a reboot to correct.

Unless your prepared to rebuild your machine a number of times to try different combinations of driver releases, and endure constant reboots, then don't bother at the moment.

Its great to use to have a look at - MHEG issues aside, it appears it will offer alot to most people.  Unless your really desperate wait for the public beta release ie RC stage - which should only be a month or two away if it follows MS process.

It is a shame New Zealand is not being supported during this beta so anyone with a Live ID linked to this country won't be able to sign up - and if you are not part of the beta it doesn't matter what problems you find - there's no way to report then.

I wonder if this product will launch here and people finds out it's completely out of sync with reality.

Nice,

Thanks for the replies.  I found the golden ticket, and I will "trial" it tonight.  I've ghosted everything first and set my expectations low.  I'm just curious

Actually what I might is score another drive tommorrow and run a dual boot system

I'll be keeping a close eye on this forum to see when any updates or public realeases become avaialbe.  Very exciting times for NZ - I've been running digital, then HD terrestial since the day they were braodcast.  I was extremely dissapointed that MCE didn't support it.

As a PVR application however MCE has only ever been extremely basic. I use GB-PVR myself because I find it rock solid and does everything I need however there is no disputing that Media Portal sets the benchmark now when it comes to features. It really is sad that MS with all it's resources will no doubt launch a product that only does a fraction of what other applications can do. Microsoft really have lost the plot when it comes to the whole HTPC/PVR integration - how many years will it be until a TV server is actually built into WHS where it should be and VMC extenders can speak back to the WHS rather than duplicating all the content? Their strategy really is a mess.

I guess its just not high on the priority list. It might be Windows 7 before we get a stable and usuable product, but they seem to be busy with touch-screen gizmos for the next release.

Besides not yet having freeview support I'm very happy with Vista Media Center. What advantages does GB-PVR offer? I've had a quick play but wasn't overly impressed.

Well, I have to say I am well impressed with Fiji.    The tempretature is warm and the climate is suprising stable.
I set my my expectations low, but I'm going to extend my stay and may even live here.  The scenery rocks, I don't need glasses anymore.

I still get the odd decoder errors and have to reboot and if someone knows how to resolve this, please share.

I'm going to have a crack at getting an xmltv into it.  It was working fine in 2005, but vista setup i guess is different.  Again if someone can help out let me know.

Appreciate ppls help on this forum and glad i stabled into fiji

I've had a play with GBPVR as well, it's alright, but lacks the wizziness of MCE

freitasm: The official word is "MCE is not supported in NZ, and it never was".

It may or may not change. Until then... GB-PVR or Media Portal.

Actually Media Center is supported in NZ. Offical support came with the Vista release. However, the EPG isnt available with the released Vista version.

Cheers

Mike
