Hi All

I have a Strong 4658 (non X version) with Motek in New Zealand. I have recently updated the firmware from V1.05 to V1.44.

I have always had a problem with this box that the new firmware hasn't fixed. When I switch from one satellite or transponder to another, the EPG guide information disappears for channels that are on the other transponders. The EPG was populated with 7 days of programs prior to switching to another satellite or transponder, and over an hour or so, changes to "No information" for every channel other than those on the current transponder. I realise that it can only read the EPG for channels on the current transponder, but shouldn't it retain the EPG info that it allready had?

Also, probably as a consequence of the above problem, most channel changes that are scheduled from the EPG do not work. I have given up using the scheduler.

Anyone have the same problem? Did you find a fix?

Allen

I have noted several other boxs do the same, they dont keep caches of EPG data. One of the best is my DM which seems to keep a very good cache, infact the EPG is just always there, unlike pretty much all other boxs, but then again a Linux based machine that the DM is its got alot more bells and whistles and uses a lot more resources.

Signal Strength and Quality unless they are way out will not effect cache management.

Cyril

Thanks. It's not a signal strength problem, as you say it's an EPG cache problem.

Just wondered if anyone had a work around, as I've never been able to get the scheduler to work properly because of this.

Allen

P.S. I'm seriously thinking of getting a Topfield TF6000PVR ES to replace this. Anyone have any experiences with this PVR? I have another thread about this, but no-one has posted any replys.
